Readers, I’ve been away from the bewitching world of kpop for a long time. I went to Madrid in January and came back just last week only to find that approximately twelve hundred and fifty six new girl groups and boy groups had debuted. I don’t know how I feel about this seeing as I’m still getting over the ongoing implosion of DBSK, the disappearance of the Wonder Girls, the fall in quality of Big Bang‘s music and the rise in love for SNSD (how is this even possible?)
And then there’s Boyfriend. They had their Music Bank debut yesterday and I’m still not sure what I watched and heard. I only have random words like:
- Off key
- Too happy
- Aegyo
And questions like:
- Why are they so happy?
- Where do they get their hair dyed? (It’s fabulous.)
- Why is this happening to me?
But then I heard another song of theirs called You and I and it’s not half bad.
What do you think? Should I give them a chance? Should I check out the new groups? Or should I bury my head in the sandy past when there were five gods rising in the east and X-man and Ya Shim Man Man were the hottest variety shows on air?
