Well, we’ve already seen part 1 of the 5dolls MV for their debut track “Lip Stains” featuring Jay Park, and I don’t know about you all, but I was definitely left anticipating part 2. I mean, THE DRAMA! Who will he end up with? Why is that girl in the hospital-GASP! Does she have cancer?!! And why is Jay so dreamy??
With the release of part 2, entitled “I Mean You”/”Your Words” (I’ve seen the track titled both ways), a few of my questions are answered:
It seems the song “I Mean You”/”Your Words” is no improvement on “Lip Stains”– neither song succeeded in capturing my attention. Or perhaps, the MV director did too good a job on the MVs that the songs completely faded into the background. Not good either way you look at it- a MV is supposed to enhance a song, imo, not overshadow it. After seeing 5dolls’ live performances of the songs, the songs interested me a little more as the girls do have good voices, but the styling for the stage is so awful I had to turn away from the screen. And the songs still sound super repetitive to me, with the built in aegyo-factor that I just don’t have the stomach for. Also, is it just me or is the song tuned to a register of notes that ranges in the super pitchy-annoying range??
Am I just being too hard on them?
