2PM’s Teaser for their new Japanese single just came out – Ultra Lover. Don’t be fooled by the title, I think its gonna be another awesome song. Watch the teaser for yourselves! Times like this, I really appreciate that 2PM is coming out with original Japanese songs – not just translated versions of their Korean hits. It’s their 3rd single, btw. I also love that each song seems tailor-fit to the Japanese market. There’s that distinct sound to each song that makes the listener KNOW that its Japanese. The concepts and choreography are spot on too. I think Sony is doing a swell job in promoting them. Go boys!

… I miss those old SS501 songs too! Deja Vu was my ultimate jam for the longest time.

I thought “I’m Your Man” was too cheesy to be real. I appreciate 2PM in suits (yum) but that song and choreo combo was ridiculous. I couldn’t get past the first minute of their performance without snickering.

Deja Vu put SS501 on the map for me. Song For You was such a cute follow-up, so I basically loved that single.

Deja Vu is seriously the only SS501 song that I like. Good song. :)

Anyone in here a Joseph Gordon-Levitt fan? I’m making plans to go see 50/50. Oh, and I’ve had acoustic versions of BEG songs on constant replay. They have such beautiful voices.

    • kc

JGL was actually for first celeb crush growing up^^ I’m gonna go see 50/50 when it comes out, though I’m worried it’s not going to be a good as it sounds…

      • Meagan Peaco

I have seen it, it is ridiculously good. I would def recommend seeing.

        • kc

that’s, I didn’t wanna go see it and spend the ten something if it wasn’t going to be good^^

  • Gnattie

Linkin Park did a very good cover of Rolling in the Deep! I love both artists.

    • panda

total agree..was surprise to see it here thought…

  • Gnattie

How about SNSD? What is everyone’s opinions on the teaser? The second teaser hasn’t been released yet but what do you think of the first?

Personally, I didn’t like it. It let me down. There was crappy CGI and snow and rose petals and it all looked so weird together. The music playing sounded exactly like “Keep Your Head Down” by TVXQ and though SM said the girls wouldn’t be showing their legs, most were. So I hope the actual music video and album is better.

    • Naomi

Thats how I felt too! But its only the first teaser, hopefully there will be more to the second one?
Also, judging from the pictures, I feel like theres so much going on. They’re kind of all over the place. Im excited to see how they will combine/wrap up the whole thing.

    • http://evacuatewithstyle.org/blog Amy

I think the song has a chance of being really good, unless SM totally cops out again. I like the strong beats we’ve heard so far (which are recycled, boo), but SNSD just cannot continue the cute girl thing anymore.

Since I have nothing against the SNSD girls themselves I really want to like them so I hope it means they are going more mature.  With them being in the 20s already, I think the cutesy has got to go. Beat wise I liked the songs they released for their japanese album that weren’t remakes, so I hope they go that way.

As for the teaser video itself, lazy and uncreative, but its only a teaser so we will have to wait and see.

I have a feeling the song is going to be better than the other SM releases of this year, they are the company’s golden girls. Plus they’ve been getting good material as of late. But tbh I’m not too big on any of Teddy Riley’s work. Like, he’s decent but…

Eh. I guess at least it’s not YYJ composing it.

I agree with you on the teaser video. It looked really awkward. But I like what it implies, and I like that they’re wearing classy dresses at least.

maybe shitty teaser = good MV according to SM logic because usually its awesome teaser = crappy MV
tbh I’m kinda excited. Even though I’m not really for the cutesy girl i like SNSD and most of their songs and dances so I’m looking forward to their new stuff but if its crap then whatever doesnt bother me.

LOVE the cover.  Thanks for posting!

No problem, I’m obsessed with it myself!

  • Mer

It’s funny, I have no desire to those particular dramas.  After City Hunter and Girl K….  I can’t go back to the tears and frustration.

SHINee has released the MV for the Japanese version of Lucifer and I officially hate SM. SM and it’s lap dog did SHINee dirty.

    • Aly

Too much Taemin and not enough Onew. Don’t even get me started with the ridiculous outfits…sigh.

I didn’t notice the Taemin thing until Seoulbeats pointed it out, but damn he is EVERYWHERE.

      • kc

I don’t much like the song, it’s sounds like it’s really really difficult to sing, they sounded like they were struggling most of the parts.

I have to disagree though, while yes it was saturated with a whole lotta Tae, I do like to think though that they did better, I mean they even added a scene for Minho and Key was ACTUALLY IN THE VIDEO!!! lol, it isn’t much, they still gotta work on equal rights for each of the members (especially Jjong and Onew, poor guys) but it’s a step up^^

and lol, Tae’s leather party hat and Onew’s “bling”, Japans Lucifer looked like a Gothic birthday party held in a heavily lighter sewer^^

        Party on Shinee, party on^^

        • Aly

Yea it does sound that way…the downside of recycling music.

I agree that it is a step up, but he is in the middle so much….

I think gothic people would laugh at them haha. The leather leggings killed me, it seemed like something a woman with a whip should be wearing…. At least everyone’s hair is styled better, so it is easier to concentrate on their faces XD

          • kc

in Tae’s defense he is the main dancer, he should be leading the Choreo  and in the middle but all of the individual shots are what got me, he’s cute and everything but so are the other guys -.- IDK, I keep thinking about SJM and how more even they had made it, what’s with SM lately and picking favorites, it’s just gonna get Taemin alot of hate that I don’t think he deserves (people are already saying he’s the new Yoona and Siwon -.-)

I’m not a big fan of Recycled music, once or twice is ok but doing it every time just seems a bit… lazy… does SM and EMI not have writers? it feels like SM hasn’t produced new none-remake/cover in years

      • Mer

That’s not the part that bothered me.  It was bad enough the song was recycled.  The video was essentially the same exact video with some cool water effects added.  I’m glad Minho got something other then the rap and looking good part.  So that’s a plus.  But all in all, SM did them dirty.

Just finished watching Protect the Boss and Ouran High School Host Club- which was surprisingly, hilariously good. The casting for the hosts were spot on. I have no idea what I’m going to watch next.

    • http://evacuatewithstyle.org/blog Amy

I’ve been contemplating starting Ouran High School Host Club — is it really cracky though? I generally don’t like Jdramas based off of mangas/revolving around a bunch of high school students. But I keep seeing that OHSHC is good.

      • http://seoulbeats.com Johnelle

If you’re familiar with the manga or anime, I think you’ll appreciate it more.  You have to understand that it’s totally wacky and more comedy than romance at times.  It’s so over the top at times, which are its flashes of the original manga.  Yamamoto Yusuke was great as Tamaki and really the rest of the hosts were perfect, too.  I never really got the Honey character until this version of the manga.  So if you’re open to a wacky storyline that’s just a lot of fun to watch- you’ll probably enjoy it.  Seriously, my only complaint was that the episodes, at 30 minutes, were too short.

      • Anonymous

Oh man. I LOVED Ouran when I watched it as an anime, but I couldn’t stand the drama (I tried, I really did, but I couldn’t take it past a certain point). It’s mostly the casting I had an issue with. I thought the girl lead was good, but the rest of the cast… especially Tamaki… not my cup of tea. And Honey seriously freaked me out. But that’s just me. Don’t let my opinion stop you from trying it out (a lot of people seem to like it). I’d suggest watching the anime first though… like Johnelle said you’ll appreciate it more that way.

        • http://seoulbeats.com Johnelle

Really?  Totally opposite of me, I thought the girl wasn’t the best, but the rest of the guys matched perfectly.  It could be that I just enjoyed it for it’s wacky factor.

          • Anonymous

I think perhaps it’s just that I wasn’t physically attracted to any of the guys (in some cases, I was actually physically repulsed).. while what had made the hosts so charming in the anime was that they were supposedly so handsome and swoon-worthy. If only ONE of the guys held any sort of appeal for me (for example, in my ideal cast, Koike Teppei would be cast as Honey, and Donghae would be cast as Tamaki… never mind the language barrier) I probably would had a much more positive experience.

The acting was wacky and over-the-top but it was rightfully so since the anime is like that (I was pleasantly surprised at how well that worked out) so I can only say that my difference in opinion is a matter of my personal preference in guys… haha.
