I don’t know if I have a most memorable moment, but what I think of when I think Kpop 2012 is scandals, tbh. There were a bunch this year.

I think of relationships, so many couples went public this year!

    Only one? That’s hard…
I have a lot of good memories with K-land.
I don’t know how to pick one…  good comebacks, I never into BigBang, but I like their Fantastic Baby, It’s War, Venus, I don’t know, 2MyX, Don’t need a Man, and much more; good dramas: The Chaser, Ghost, Equator Man, Jeon Woo-Chi, Vampire Prosecutor 3, etc…; 2Days1Night, Running Man…

What shocked me (in a good way, because there were also way too many worst issues in K-land this year) was when Uhm Tae Woong said he would get married next January. Ha? The forever-lonely-bachelor-with love for dogs-and lost-looking Mr. Uhm? And about to be a father as well…

And out of K-land, the most memorable was ‘The Hobbit’. Why we have to wait for another year (for the second)? ;p

I don’t know if there was a more appropriate collaboration than Psy and MC Hammer — and not necessarily for positive reasons if you’re looking at it as a possible comparison of similar career longevities on the US charts. Gangnam Style is already moving swiftly into “OH GAWD NOT AGAIN” territory, much like U Can’t Touch This did sometime circa June-July 1990. It is still possible Psy will do something else that cracks the US charts (Hammer did have a couple of more lukewarm hits compared to his smash), but even if he doesn’t, I can respect the achievement. He made it onto the US charts — made it into the top 2, in fact, which is something noteworthy when you consider he did it with a song not in English. He might even have made it to number one if Maroon 5 didn’t shuffle by all “Bitch, please” and move to the head of the line.

That said, the most memorable Kpop moment of 2012 for me was probably the 2NE1 bird incident. The whole thing had me descending into giggles like I was five year old girl and just got my first cabbage patch doll. It was just a complete fiasco. Animal loving fans were outraged; YG responded with one of the most hilariously backhanded apologies ever. Along the lines of “We had experts on hand organizing it, but if anyone was offended by us putting on an awesome show with parrots, we apologize and will reimburse you for your messy diapers…” The sad thing is, the parrots brought NOTHING to the performance. You could have glued feathers to a chinchilla and put THAT on CL’s shoulders and it wouldn’t have made a damn difference — except it would have pissed off even more animal lovers out there. I can’t for the life of me comprehend why someone at YG thought it would be a good idea? There weren’t even animals in the I Love You video! God-f’ing-damn it, YG! And how are you going to tie a bird to somebody’s shoulder, anyway? I’d like to know which “expert” gave the go ahead for that one? Does that sound like a good idea? You think CL was excited to have a (potentially) pissed off bird five inches away from her face? Plus I think it tried to mimic her rap.

For real, though, thank you to whoever at YG came up with that dumbass idea. I got barrels of laughter from that whole incident.
