    Ok. Cool.

JaeJoong raising his hand in self-denfense I would understand, but not (according to one of the released audio clips) hitting a girl while lecturing her and then telling her to ‘be like the others and not report it’ is just sick. And omg >6 years of this and yet…

    WAE YOU NO HIRE BODYGUARDS???

    Case closed.

I see the mistranslations are still spreading. You need to get a native Korean speaker to explain it to you. He never once admitted to hitting her on the audio, nor did he tell her not to report it. What he actually implied was the fan would pretend to have been hit, in order to manipulate the situation.

There are plenty of fans that join fan cafes, buy albums and attend concerts but don’t do crazy things that sasaeng fans do like break into their houses and etc. That’s normal fandom and it exists. Jaejoong hitting/barely touching that girl is horrible and unprofessional, but after 6 years of this, it’s somewhat understandable that a professional manner could break. Saesang fans barely deserve to be called fans because they’re causing harm to their idols and what fan wants that?
And also, this article had such hypocrisy in how it mentions people only blaming sasaeng fans and brushing over JYJ’s faults, when in this article, the faults of the sasaeng fans are summarized so simply and made to be ignored.
I would have agreed more with this article and considered its points if it didn’t portray the facts in such hypocritical way…

you’re probably a sasaeng fan yourself then. Need to get yourself checked. I’m a fangirl. I blog, I write fanfics about them, go to their concerts and all the other legal things I do but its nowhere as dangerous as the sasaeng fans do. I dont go tracing their phone calls and stalk their phone numbers. Is it normal to poop and pee in front of your idol’s house? Is it normal to break in and steal social security number? Is it normal to throw your used and uncleaned menstrual pad to your idol? is it normal to SLAP INSTEAD OF SQUEEING in front of your idol?? If you say yes to all, you’re sick.

what happened to JYJ cannot be condoned, ever. It is extreme and dangerous.
Menstrual blood letters, slapping kpop idols, throwing things in their faces (like what happened recently to my gorgeous favourite SJ bias, Kyuhyun) is just plain wrong.
But I do agree with you that the Korean entertainment industry is building a dangerous time bomb. I won’t be surprised if most of the kpop idols end up being nervous wrecks with severe anxiety problems later in life (if not already).
They are humans with normal lives, but the image built around them is causing their fans to obsess over them a little too much. Its not just the once in a lifetime feeling that causes fans to chase after their idols, but there is really a feeling of being in love whenever we listen to our favourite idol’s song. They are just too perfect. Even their mistakes and weaknesses are adorable.
What the Korean entertainment industry should also introduce and allow (besides not focusing on making every single fan fall hopelessly in love) is to let the kpop stars have REAL relationships (not stupid WGM crap). Ban all contract restrictions on having girlfriends/boyfriends. No stigma on marriages etc.etc.
I am quite sure kpop idols have people they themselves are in love with, but they are so intensely terrified of the backlash they will receive if they reveal their own obsession. Hell, they are even worried about fights that might result if they accidentally touch the fans themselves!! This is absolutely not healthy at all.
Western (super)stars have openly dated and married. What harm is there? Focus has then shifted to the content of their music and their actual talents.
The kpop stars are all a heap of caged birds. With no life outside their tiny little circles. They are not allowed to date, eat, party, speak freely like what they are entitled to as humans. And what they end up with? Crazy jail wardens called sasaeng fans.
If they don’t change this trend. And according to your article.. the normal fans will soon cross that line…. cos these kpop idols are standing on melting islands…
Though it would shatter my heart to pieces to see Kyuhyun dating, I would still rather be sure that he is given the right he deserves to be comfortable and happy in his life. He is starting to look like a nervous wreck in public and I don’t like that. I want him to be happy. My heart will heal (albeit major scarring).
Yes. I would like to see some changes to the kpop industry.

I believe that idols should be allowed to date, these idols, these PEOPLE work hard everyday for the fans, they put their careers and futures in the hands of us fans, the LEAST we could do is let them love freely, let them date whoever they want without complaints.

If i were an JYJ who have been harassed by sasaengs for years, i’d hit them too. If you look at the situation as a school yard bullying situation you see these sasaengs (i wont call them fans) bullying and bullying idols for years and years, finally there is only so much anyone can handle before they snap. Regardless that they have the name “Idol” they are really just as human as the rest of us. How much could you really take if you’ve been harassed as much as they have. and its not like school where a few people are bullying, but its 500-1000. I will never blame JYJ or any other idol for hitting the sasaengs, there is only so much you can take.

I like to consider myself a normal fan, sure I enjoy fanfictions, and sure i like to watch videos of L making fancam contact, fantasize about Hoya shirtless, or wish i was the floor when he performed O. And I think that’s what makes idols so marketable and the reason its such an easy fandom to get sucked into. But when you go out of your way to spend thousands of dollars watching the idols every move, breaking into their house, sending them ur period blood there’s a serious mental problem. I’m sure sasaeng started with a small group of mental people stalking an idol, and then peer pressure happens and sure enough you’re left with 1000′s of sasaengs. This needs to be cracked down on.

Its NORMAL to want to see your idol (you cant tell me if you saw SJ, BB or Infinite you wouldn’t want to say hi, I WOULD), especially if u see them at an accessible location, but when you stalk them for blocks, its not cool. I was getting wigged out watching Infinite Sesame Player because of that. See your idol, say what you need to say, get an autograph and move the fuck on. Get outta the way ur blocking the sidewalk and leave them to do what they want.

Its NORMAL to want to support your group, but when you make it ur lifes duty, it means that your scared of really having your own life. It’s easy to stalk idols lifes when ur a teen and have no idea where your life is headed, its easy to latch onto someone elses life esp. if its successful.

I know that this is the “path” idols chose but no one should suffer this. No one deserves this. I think that it would be worse if an idol killed themselves because of it, because the sasaengs probably wont stop even when the singer has passed, they may even dig them up. That’s what i believe could happen, and it scares the fuck out of me. These people have serious problems, serious mental problems and for the sanity of the idols this needs to stop >__<
