Despite being suspended from activities with ZE:A, Moon Junyoung (also known as Lee Hoo) isn’t staying out of the public eye. He made his return to the spotlight as an electronic dance music DJ under the name of ZE:After. His debut showcase, held at a dance club in Seoul on November 28, featured both DJing and singing performances. Star Empire Entertainment later announced that he will be embarking on a tour that will take him to various cities in Korea, Japan, China, Thailand, and Singapore.
Junyoung was put on an indefinite hiatus from group activities due to his bold decision to speak about the mistreatment he and his members received from their company in September. He used this break time to learn how to DJ and, after receiving praise from his teachers for his potential, Star Empire released the sudden announcement that he would be making his formal solo debut. In an interview after his showcase, Junyoung revealed that he is gaining international attention for his talent within the EDM community, and even said that he plans to attend the popular Ultra Music Festival as a DJ next year.
Many were left wondering about Junyoung’s future after the very public and passionate charges of wrongdoing he made against his company and this unexpected DJ debut has definitely proved reassuring for worried fans. Considering the increasing frequency of idols refusing to put up with the exploitative conduct of entertainment companies, it will definitely be interesting to see how his future works as a model for those who might follow in his footsteps.
