Because the gumiho is on the loose. The official trailer is finally out for the Hong Sisters‘ latest Kdrama rom-com, My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho. Lee Seung Gi stars as Cha Dae Woong, the bumbling and immature son of a rich (they’re like always rich) family. Shin Mina stars as his beautiful and sexy girlfriend who just happens to be a gumiho, a supernatural thousand year old fox who has nine tails and can transform into a human and just might want to have Dae Woong’s liver for dinner. The story revolves around Dae Woong finding out that she is a gumiho and then trying to find ways to keep his liver- see boys, when a girl seems to good to be true, she usually is. Check out the trailer here.

Ooh, looks like more Hong Sisters’ rom-com gold and something refreshingly new to the current Kdrama scene. This is the Hong Sisters’ sixth Kdrama and latest after last years’ domestic ratings disappointment, but international fan favorite You’re Beautiful. Lee Seung Gi was last seen in one of 2009’s biggest hits, Brilliant Legacy although fans can always see him on his two variety shows 1N2D and Strong Heart. It’s been three years since Shin Mina appeared in a Kdrama, 2007’s The Devil (Mawang), but she was in three movies last year The Naked Kitchen, Sisters on the Road, and A Million.

I’m always up for a good rom-com and it being from the Hong Sisters just makes it that much better because you can always rely on them for witty dialogue and unpredictable story lines. I was able to find this diagram and description of the show’s cast on the SBS site (sorry, I couldn’t find one with English translations). If you’re a drama fan you’ll be able to recognize some familiar faces and T-ARA‘s Hyomin also has a supporting role in the drama.

My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho will be a Wednesday/Thursday drama on SBS and will debut on August 11th. For more information, try checking out the drama’s web page.
