for me they are mostly good comebacks in kpop in the poll i picked for soloists it was a toss up  between BoA’s Only One and PSY’s Gangnam Style and picked BoA, for boy groups is U-KISS’s Stop Girl and girl group is f(x)’s Electric Shock

Seriously, if “Gangnam Style” isn’t considered best in terms of comeback, then I don’t know what is.

I hate the song, and I will strangle anyone who plays it in my presence, but it’s ridiculous to deny what an amazing run the song has had, and is still having!

  • sleptopia

Taking a look at that girl group list really says a lot for the lack of quality there this year imo, visually some were great like Pandora but I’m not a huge fan of any of them. The one exception is BEG who once again transcend K-Pop and excel themselves as musical icons in their own right.

Boy groups has to be Shinhwa for me, as far as ear-worm music goes, Venus was (imho) by far the most catchy K-Pop of any kind song this year. Not to mention the quite cool video and crisp dance moves for their age.

The solo is really hard for me and is without a doubt where all the quality music has been  this year. Gain, Psy, JYP and IU all have a genuine shout at it. Gain pushed boundaries with a fantastic song lyrically and she is an incredible performer who can portray exactly the feeling that her song portrays. Anyone who bothered to read my comment on the article on ‘Gangnam Style’ when it was first released will know how disappointed that song made me when viewed in light of his previous material and I stand by that, but his overwhelming success can not be ignored. JYP’s video was a bit creepy but his dancing is up there with the best in K-Pop and he got his style down to a tee. I actually feel that his duet with Gain is superior in most facets but I guess it doesn’t really fit under any of the categories. IU is in with a shout of being the best idol singer (I’m not going to pretend she’s better than 15& but they aren’t idols in the traditional sense). Her Video is great her singing is fantastic and her image has been perfectly cultivated. Even if I prefer her pre-loli days you can’t deny that she’s fantastic. I went with IU in the end, whilst, Gain has deeper lyrics, JYP has better dance moves and Psy was more successful, I feel she is the better overall package.

Being the fangirl that I am, I had to choose Block B’s “Nillili Mambo” as best male comeback, not only for the fact that “Nillili Mambo” is such an awesome track, but for what their comeback represents. They were reborn after reaching the lowest point of their career and they came back HARDER than ever before. They showed that they were not going to be deterred by their past and that they would keep pushing forward. They weren’t going to succumb to any pressure to change their colors, but they flaunted who they were with their comeback. Even when stories seeking to tarnish their reputation came out, they displayed maturity and maintained their image through it all.

This was more than just a comeback for BBCs. It was like watching a phoenix rise from the ashes.

This song made me a fan of them. I didn’t really enjoy their first couple of tracks, but Nillili Mambo is SO GOOD.

  • Kuriya17 is Queen’s!

I’ll go with T-ara as a best female group. I know all groups are hardworking, but as a queen’s and updated to T-ara’s activities, i really admired  how hardworking they are. How they love their fans so much, and how great their songs and dance moves.
MBLAQ as best male group :)
and IU as the best soloist. well, i admired ailee’s voice so much too, but i’ll still go with IU :)

Am I the only one who think f(x)’s comeback is a bit.. lackluster? idk.. The song has potential but something feels lacking.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kakadu-Kakaduson/100004743494148 Kakadu Kakaduson

Get over it. F(x) is already one of the most popular girl groups. XD

      • http://twitter.com/#!/shahirashera Shahirashera

And your point? Just because I didnt say it’s a satisfactory comeback or because they are popular, so I should keep my comment to myself? Well, excuse me if you dont agree. I still think Im allowed to post my opinion.

    Male Group: Big Bang
    Solo: PSY
    Female Group: SISTAR

    Now for my personal favorites:

    Male Group: Big Bang/Block B
    Solo: Baek Jiyoung/Se7en
Female Group: miss A’s Touch (much, much better than Independent Woman imo); 4minute’s Volume Up

I would have picked 2NE1′s I Love You if their promotions weren’t so shitty as fuck. Still love the song to bits though.

Please don’t make me choose between Big Bang and Epik High, Sistar and 2NE1, and Psy and Ga-In. You’re killing me.

    • leadaegyu

Bigbang, Sistar, and Gain for me. IDK but BB has the best comeback this year with a lot of people (not just fans) anticipated it and they totally exceed the expectation given to them. They broke a lot of records with this comeback alone what can you say. And 2012 is golden year for Sistar, enough said. With Gain, I think is about sending a message lol. Her MV is gorg and has a lot of message about female sexuality, not just selling porn *cough*Hyuna*cough*

  • taequila777

Male Group: Big Bang: Blue-one of the most beautiful songs I’ve heard in any language, I can listen to it all day. The melody is beautiful and I have a feeling Big Bang put all theif effort into that song. Female Group: 2NE1-I’m bias, sorry. Solo: G-Dragon. He continues to put the boundaries with his music. I’m all YG!

    Who I voted for:

    Female: SISTAR
    Male: Big Bang
    Solo: Psy

Who I wanted to vote for:
    Female: Sistar
    Male: B1A4
    Solo: K. Will

Why wouldn’t you just go with your original choices? Seems more genuine to go with what you want in a given situation.

Because I Big Bang and Psy’s comebacks had more meaning than b1a4′s and k. will. I tried to be subjective.  lol.  It doesn’t really matter. I could always just vote again. lol

I don’t understand why you don’t just vote for the artists you wanted to vote for.

  • minty_chip

I chose Sistar as best female comeback because this was their year, plus I loved both of their releases. 2ne1 probably would have been my choice if only their promotions continued. Ah, the boy group comeback is so tough to choose. It was between Big Bang, Block B, and Shinhwa because of the amazing albums and all they’ve endured. In the end, Block B won because their comeback was spot on and the quality was amazing for a newer group. Solo artist was also a tough choice because Ailee, Gd, Psy, and Ga-in to me were equally good. Gd won my vote though

  • http://www.facebook.com/jennyb.blockb Jenny B Block B

    Sistar
    BigBang
    G.dragon

  • http://twitter.com/M_Wys Michaela Wylie

    Sistar was easy for me.

Soloist was harder, but I ultimately went with BoA. Not only is “Only One” my fav SM song this year, I really loved how she cameback after two years in her original style.

Male group is so freaking hard. Block B? EpiK High? Infinite? B1A4? Shinhwa? Idk! >_<

  • goldengluvsk2

It might be because sunny hill is a co ed group that theyre not listed but i loved their comeback from the structure of the song to the mv and outfts everything was on point in the grashoppers song and then with the white horse is coming … For femal group honestly speaking none of them knocked me off my socks but 2ne1 and orange caramel were great. Male group: big bang, infinite, b1a4 , block b were my favorites! Soloist: younha was amazing loved her album!

I wasn’t sure about girl groups, they were all really good this year, but I think Sistar is a good choice for the best one. Boy group I went with SHINee – their mini was nice and I was impressed with how much everyone had improved. For soloist BoA was an instant choice! The dance, her composing the song – it was just perfect to me!

Why was “That XX” listed as G-Dragon’s comeback, when the title track was “Crayon”?

And on a biased note, I’m disappointed that FTIsland wasn’t included. I know they likely wouldn’t have won — considering the dominant fanbases on this site — but it would have been nice all the same. c:

  • http://hummingbadmarkz.wordpress.com/ badmarkz

i was torn between block b and b1a4, both have grown so much since their debut (tbh, i didn’t like any of their debut). in the end, i choose block b considering what they’ve been through before making this comeback…

  • Sh O

Only One, Blue( Although I prefer Bad Boy) and Alone, these three are the ones that I like the most, although I think Shinee had a rather successful comeback.

  • smileyushi

If SHINee had promoted longer, I would’ve gone with SHINee. Instead, bigbang, f(x), and boa got my vote :)

  • hapacalgirl

With how awesome their variety show is, I had to pick Shinhwa as the best comeback of 2012.  Us Changjos have waited 4 years for this comeback and I loved their anniversary album.  As for girls, had to choose Secret’s Poison personally.  As for female, chose GaIn’s Bloom.

  • Jgg55

Honestly though, electric shock is the most basic can of beige paint if there ever was one. I like f(x) but please, best comeback? I don’t think so.

As for the dudes, The Chaser is one of my favourite songs evarr.

  • TheJadeBullet

Orange Caramel’s Lipstick, Block B’s Nillili Mambo and Ga-In’s Bloom. I would have chosen Infinite’s The Chaser, but tbh, as much I love Infinite, I enjoyed Nillili Mambo a lot more.

Voted for B1A4, f(x) (because I’m biased) and BoA. Except for f(x), I was really fond of Girl’s Day comeback track.

  • Whisperingnotes

It feels like suju, shinee and tvxq have all fallen behind.

I’d have to give this one to Block B since their comeback was much more than ‘just a comeback.’ Like Ami-ah said, this was like their rebirth after the year they had. It was great seeing them come back stronger and better than ever, and this comeback brought them loads of positive attention (and several well-deserved awards as well), so I’m looking forward to what they can bring in 2013. It’s about time these boys are recognized for their outstanding talent.

Best girl group comebacks: Sistar and F(x)! No need to argue here, really. If Sistar boosted up their popularity domestically, f(x) boosted their popularity internationally. It’s so obvious.

Orange Caramel , Infinite, and K.Will. They were interesting, kept me coming back to watch their performances, and I didn’t get tired of the song after a week.
