KBS is the Grinch that stole Christmas as it cancels Invincible Youth and three other of its variety shows. Today was the last day of filming for the cast of Invincible Youth, the show had been extremely popular when it first debuted starring seven of Kpop’s hottest girl group members Narsha of BEGs, Sunny and Yuri of SNSD, Hara from KARA, 4Minute‘s Hyuna, Hyomin of T-ara, and Sunhwa of Secret with MCs Noh Joo-hyun, Kim Tae-woo, and Kim Shin-young in October of 2009.
The show’s ratings began to decline especially after the departure of Sunny, Yuri, and Hyuna in May of 2010. The addition of new members Sori, f(x)‘s Victoria, and Joo-yeon of After School did not help. Invincible Youth was one of four variety shows to be cancelled, the others were Invincible Baseball, Nocturnal, and Music Closet.
The reason given for the cancellations were low ratings. I think many times these TV stations don’t give new shows enough time to develop properly. If a show doesn’t start off with a bang and/or keep up the ratings, bam! It’s gone. I’m really disappointed with the cancellation of Invincible Youth, it was one of my favorites.
