Welcome back to another week of Best of Weekly Music Shows! We had quite a few comebacks this week: Sunmi, Chungha, Jang Wooyoung of 2PM, and JBJ to name a few. Infinite won big, taking home wins on Mnet M! Countdown, KBS Music Bank, MBC Show! Music Core and Show Champion, as well as SBS Inkigayo, while Oh My Girl had their first ever music show win on SBS The Show. Congratulations to both groups!
Without further ado, here were some of our favourite stages of the week!
Infinite’s “Tell Me”, Mnet M! Countdown, January 18, 2018
After a hiatus of over a year, Infinite has finally returned, better than ever! “Tell Me” is a little different from their usual powerful beat-heavy tracks, but the added tropical house and EDM influences are an interesting twist that pair well with the sharp synchronised choreography that Infinite is famous for. No strangers to the stage, the members shine in the spotlight and exude charisma, especially dancing L in his caterpillar costume after the announcement of their win!

Chungha’s “Roller Coaster”, KBS Music Bank, January 19, 2018
Chungha is a vision in white for her “Roller Coaster” stage — a great styling choice as she really pops out among her backup dancers clad in black. The retro style really fits her as it strays away from the typical sexy or cute themes that are frankly overdone, and this performance places the emphasis on her strength — dancing. It’s a definite step up from her previous release and stages, and I can’t wait to see what she does next!
Jang Woo Young’s “Quit”, MBC Show! Music Core, January 20, 2018
2PM is known for their hot and fierce image, so it came as a bit of a surprise to watch Jang Woo Young’s “Quit” performance, which is quite a long way away from the group’s powerful acts. The healing stage features live acoustic guitar and laid-back whistle motifs to accompany the artist’s soothing vocals. All in all, it’s a simple and relaxing stage that is easy to watch and listen to.
Sunmi’s “Heroine”, Mnet M! Countdown, January 18, 2018
Although “Heroine” doesn’t have the catchy chorus with a dance move that nearly everyone can replicate (or attempt to replicate), it is powerful in its own right. Sunmi is the star of the show, quite literally, as she opens her comeback performance dancing inside of a screen onstage. A true veteran performer, she exudes confidence and allure, hitting all the moves and expressions to make this track really come to life.
JBJ’s “My Flower”, SBS Inkigayo, January 21, 2018
JBJ’s stage for “My Flower” is a great pick-me-up for anyone having a sluggish day at school or at work. The members are clad in a mishmash of vibrant colours, which fits right in with the lightheartedness and playfulness of the comeback. The two dance breaks in the track are a must watch — the first one featuring cute hip sways and the second large powerful moves. Simply put, this performance is the perfect dose of fun!
