First the Olympic Gold medal, then hanging out with Big Bang and now Saturday, August 7th, 2010??!!
Now that the Winter Olympics and the World Cup have come and gone, Kim Yuna is still reveling in her much deserved successes-this time she’s getting a day named in her honor! This upcoming Saturday in Los Angeles, the ice skating diva will be celebrating “Kim Yuna Day” as declared by the city’s municipal government!
She is scheduled to arrive in LA on Friday to sign the ordination at City Hall where she will also be donating an autographed pair of skates to be on permanent display. And on Saturday, the figure skating champion will be accepting the Proud Korean Award from the Korean American Leadership Foundation. The Proud Korean Award, which was established in 2006, has honored only Korean Americans in the past, but as this year was the reign of “Queen Yuna”, committee felt that she made the Korean people around the world more than just proud. Although Saturday will be named after her, she is not the only recipient of the Proud Korean Award-also receiving the award will be Sammy Lee, the 1948 and 1952 Olympic diving champion!
Congrats to them both and Happy Kim Yuna Day to all our LA readers!!
