Welcome back to Best of Weekly Music Shows! It’s been quite the week with MBC Show! Music Core being cancelled for a baseball game, and Seventeen BSS making their debut. This week also ended sadly with Up10tion having to halt activities following the passing of 100% leader Minwoo, who was their labelmate. We at Seoulbeats offer our sincere condolences to his friends, family, and fans.

On a lighter note, Got7 earned their first victory for “Look” on KBS Music Bank. Mamamoo took home trophies on SBS The Show and Inkigayo and Mnet M! Countdown. Wanna One also won for “I.P.U.” on MBC Show Champion but missed last week’s shows because they’re promoting overseas.

My favorite performances may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I welcome our readers to share the stages they loved in the comments below.

CLC‘s “Black Dress”, Mnet M! Countdown, March 22, 2018

I love these outfits — the booty shorts, the caps, and everything in black. I wish all the members were wearing the same thigh-high boots, but they look hot in heels, too. Seungyeon switched up her dance break with some new moves while Yeeun added a touch of flair by tossing her hat into the crowd. I like when groups refresh their choreo with different steps: it keeps things entertaining.

W24‘s “Always Missing You”, KBS Music Bank, March 23, 2018

When I wished for more bands, I didn’t think a flood of them would appear on music shows in 2018. Thankfully, most of them have their own sound like W24. They evoke a sense of nostalgia with their laid-back vintage style. I don’t know much about this group, but they exude a delightful charm on stage. If variety is the spice of life, then W24 is ginger, adding a slight zest without being overwhelming.

Seol Ha Yoon‘s “Ring My Heart”, MBC Show Champion, March 21, 2018

Trot is an acquired taste, so most fans might overlook it in favor of more pop-centric songs. What’s nice about Seol Ha Yoon is that she doesn’t take things too seriously on stage. She’s quite playful, delivering fan service through winks and finger hearts. Her voice shines through trot, coming in clear and strong. The song is catchy and a decent starter for anyone interested in listening to more of this genre.

NCT 127‘s “Touch”, MBC Show Champion, March 21, 2018

NCT 127 is soul-lifting with their strong charisma and solid choreography. They’ve been steadily coming for me with through their performances. In fact, scientific research has shown that Taeyong‘s smile can cure illness and generate world peace. Actually, no research that proves that outside of my own fangirl delusions, but it’s the truth in my heart.

Seventeen BSS’ “Just Do It”, MBC Show Champion, March 21, 2018

It’s another fantastic offering from the group who brings nothing but joy on stage. Even when it’s only 3 of them, they still exude a high level of style and class. The pinstriped suits give off a Gatsby vibe, yet the song elicits a rock mood. The combination of these elements is what makes Seventeen BSS fresh and entertaining. I’m looking forward to even more sub-units in the future!
