After a year-and-a-half long struggle with anonymity, Spica made huge waves with “Tonight,” their first top 10 hit. In early 2014, they continued with the popular “You Don’t Love Me.” Now, the quintet has announced a US debut, and a shiny new song to go with it.
Spica has been announced as part of the line-up for mega-convention KCON, alongside A-list acts Girl’s Generation and G-Dragon. The talent ladies will be performing a new, all English piece, “I Did It,” which has been described as having an up-tempo, nineties-esque sound. They’ll be following “I Did It” with their first full album sometime in the fall.
In terms of odds for success, Spica appear to have prepared well. They’ve got good timing– with boy bands firmly re-entreched, the girl group resurgence is inevitable–, good producers who have worked with everyone from Britney Spears to Carly Rae Jepson, and most of all, good voices.
Best of luck, Spica. We at Seoulbeats cannot wait to learn what you did. What about you, readers?
