The music scene, this week, contained a horde of energetic and electric performances. The debut list included Lovelyz‘s “Candy Jelly Love”, Kyuhyun‘s “At Gwanghwanum”, Hi Suhyun‘s “I’m Different”, and Atomic Kiz‘s “WA”, while the comeback list comprised of AOA‘s “Like A Cat”, Boys Republic‘s “The Real One”, Ulala Session‘s “Those Who Are Crying Now”, Natthew‘s “Love Will be OK”, and Badkiz‘s “Babamba”.
While Epik High, Beast, and Boyfriend nabbed the trophies at M!Countdown, Music Bank and MTV The Show respectively, MC Mong, surprisingly, won at Inkigayo and Music Core. Amongst all the buzz and excitement, the Melon Music Awards, on a poignant note, awarded the MBC Music Star Award to Ladies’ Code.
I have chosen my favourites but do mention yours.
Kim Yoo-jung‘s cover of A-Pink‘s “Mr. Chu” on SBS Inkigayo, November 16th, 2014
The youngest emcee so far on Inkigayo, Kim Yoo-jung made her entry into the show rather entertainingly with her performance of A-Pink’s “Mr.Chu”. She could easily make her transition into the idol world with her on point vocals and cutesy image. The nation’s little sister might just be what the potential national girl groups need right now.
Boyfriend’s “Witch” on SBS Inkigayo, November 16th, 2014
Irrespective of their first win, the boys’ performance of “Witch” has been consistent throughout all music shows at all times. Although, Boyfriend has had some troubles creating a concrete image for themselves but starting with “Janus”, and evolving with “Witch”, the group is slowly finding its lost ground.
EXO‘s cover of Luis Miguel‘s “Sabor a Mi” on KBS Music Bank Mexico, November 12th, 2014
To be fair Ailee‘s cover of Tish Hinojosa‘s and Marvin Dykhuis‘ “Donde Voy” felt closer to the original but then again you don’t always have Suho singing “I’m so poor, what else can I give?” Jokes apart, the performance has Chanyeol showcasing his commendable skills as a guitarist and D.O being particularly amazing on the vocals.
Epik High‘s “Happen Ending” ft. Younha on Mnet M!Countdown, November 13th, 2014
While Younha’s inclusion did not add substantially to an already perfect performance, it did make me quite excited to see Epik High and Younha share the same stage.
Akdong Musician‘s “Give Love” + “200%” at the Melon Music Awards, November 13th, 2014
Oh my god, the sheer cuteness that are these performances! The songs are anyway so upbeat and chirpy that you can’t help but sing along and on top of that, you have Chan-hyuk giving his 200% to the performance. The Alice in Wonderland (?) theme only adds to the cuteness of it all.
Sistar‘s “Touch my Body” at the Melon Music Awards, November 13th, 2014
I really like this remix version. However, the awkward choreography which almost cost dearly to Bora still manages to evoke some laughter .
Winner‘s “Serenade”, “Don’t Flirt”, “Tonight”, “Different”, and “I’m Him” at the Melon Music Awards, November 13th, 2014
What is this perfection? From the VCR to the very end of “Empty”, the boys kept on proving how worthy they are of the Best Newcomer award. If I could replicate the fangirl scream bubbling at my throat on this post, only then would you have an inkling of how much I love this entire performance of these so-called rookies.
