Wow, what a weekend for music shows! As the 2012 comes to a close, K-pop celebrates by going out with bang, usually in the form of some very long, long music shows jam packed with wonderful eye candy known to all as the Gayo Daejuns. This year on SB we’ll be dissecting each show for you bit by bit and offering up our analysis of who was hot and who was not, but in the mean time, I thought it might serve you well to deliver you the best (or what I thought were the best) of each of the major music shows so we can flail for a moment together! I won’t be going into too much detail about what’s what (you can expect that from us later this week), so just sit back, relax, and enjoy the cream of the crop!
Sistar “Alone” 121228 KBS Gayo Daejun
The ladies of Sistar get hotter than ever in this performance of “Alone.” I’m swooning over the remix and I love how they slowed down that signature “Alone” move–this is one of those choreographies that is very delicate and the slower pace in this mix really flaunts the sex appeal of this number!
Ailee “Heaven” 121228 KBS Gayo Daejun
Gotta show some love for my Korean Beyonce Ailee! This girl has had a rocking year getting to the top, and her debut single “Heaven” never gets old to me. She really belts out the notes on this stage, so perk up!
B2ST “It’s Not Me/Beautiful Night” 121228 KBS Gayo Daejun
Any day I can hear Junhyung drop some smooth verses is a good day for me. It also doesn’t help that “Beautiful Night” is my number one driving jam–I can never get enough of this song, and I could never have enough B2ST. I went with this performance because I really love me a casual B2ST–their bright outfits during “Beautiful Night” promos were fun but I like this sleek side to them better! Junhyung live is also like crack for my ears. Soooo yeahhh
Super Junior “Sexy, Free, and Single,” 121229 SBS Gayo Daejun
I can’t really say I’ve ever been disappointed in SJ performances–they also know how to put on a good show whether the song is overkill or not. I liked this SFS stage because the rock remix was a really fun and this particular stage floor reminded me SO much of the “U” stages that I had to include it. My boys killed it, per usual.
MBLAQ “Run” 121229 SBS Gayo Daejun
“Run” was my favorite track of the This is War mini album, and I’m so so glad MBLAQ got a chance to do a high energy performance like this one. I got mad love for my MBLAQ boys, but what the hell did the stylists do the Mir and G.O.? Apart from shaking my head for bad hair dos, I was pleasantly surprised by this performance!
Well, those are the selections for this week. Be sure to tune in to all the analysis we have going on for the Gayo Daejuns!
