On this edition of SB Mixtape, we will focus on the female voice and its collective impact on Korean music. I’ve naturally drifted to more R&B-tinged tracks as I think the Korean R&B scene would be nothing without its wonderous feminine. Even the males on this mixtape employ falsettos to reach the heights that the female voice can so naturally live within.
In particular, the independent Korean music scene has seen several brilliant releases by women across 2022. Jay Park‘s MV for “Ganadara” is also a great ode to the star power of IU. So here’s to the divine feminine!
