What I’d originally envisioned for an April playlist was an obvious choice of spring lullabies to match the warmer, picnic-perfect weather. After all, flowers are blooming, romance is in the air (self-love included), and warm coats are replaced by cozy cardigans. A light and lovely playlist would be perfect to accompany the golden, longer afternoons that is defrosting us from the winter cold…
…until the ruthless pandemic occurred. For the first time since our generation can remember, we are being called to undergo a lockdown in what is otherwise the prime season to go out for an adventure. Streets, malls, piers, schools, churches, and more are empty, with only the essential services provided. The glowing outside nature is left to be seen from windows of cars and indoor rooms, save for the quick coffee or takeout run. Restrictions keep us safe in our homes, but also without nature’s fresh breath of air. Though in the midst of an anxiety-inducing time, here is a playlist that reassures the average listener that everything will soon be okay. Yes, the world’s health is at stake; yes, we would love to run away to a (safe) vacation; and definitely, spring should be enjoyed outdoors. But if music has the power to help celebrate, it also has the power to rejuvenate the mind and soul to keep enduring and hoping for a clean end to this chaos!
