Welcome back to another episode of Best of Weekly Music Shows! Wanna One continued to dominate on shows this week, taking their second win for “Energetic” on SBS The Show, and scoring multiple triple crowns on MBC Show Champion, Mnet M! Countdown, and MBC Show! Music Core. Meanwhile, Yoon Jong-shin took home a win for “Like It” on KBS Music Bank, and Sunmi achieved her first win for “Gashina” on SBS Inkigayo. This week’s installment of M! Countdown saw airing of performances from KCON LA! As always, please sound off in the comments below with your favourite performances!

Jung Sewoon’s “JUST U”, MBC Show! Music Core, September 2, 2017

Jung Sewoon, of Produce 101 fame, has finally made his solo debut with the groovy “JUST U”! From this stage, it’s clear that he is a natural performer, with a boyish charm to complement his sweet voice. With a simple retro-inspired stage and backup dancers that don’t overwhelm the performance, all eyes are definitely on the confident and relaxed Jung Sewoon. Oh, and it doesn’t hurt that the song is extremely catchy!

Heize’s “Don’t Know You”, Mnet M! Countdown, August 31, 2017

It’s such a shame that Heize doesn’t perform more on music shows, because her voice is simply stunning. Performing chart-topper “Don’t Know You” at KCON LA, she captivates the audience with just her voice — no choreography or wild outfits needed. Fluently transitioning between warm singing and cool rapping, she sounds just as good — if not better — than the studio version!

Hyuna’s “Babe”, MBC Show! Music Core, September 2, 2017

Hyuna took her comeback to the stages this week, and her title track “Babe” is classic Hyuna. She is another artist that is a natural performer who oozes charisma, easily pulling off strong choreography while easily singing and rapping. I especially enjoy the red accents in her lips, nails, and boots, which add a bold and wild splash to the light and carefree performance. Can you believe that it’s been ten years already since her debut?

NCT Dream’s “We Young”, KBS Music Bank, September 1, 2017

Although this isn’t NCT Dream’s first week performing “We Young”, I simply cannot get over the adorableness of their stage. With safari-inspired outfits, the youthfulness and freshness of their concept is further highlighted. I appreciate how, even after weeks of performing, they are all still sporting cheery smiles, and really, this is a stage that will bring a smile to your face.

VIXX LR’s “Feeling + Whisper”, SBS Inkigayo, September 3, 2017

The very upbeat “Feeling” contrasts the sensuality of “Whisper”, and the audience is in for a real treat for their comeback stage. In the pre-chorus of their title track “Whisper”, Ravi sings(!) an octave lower to double Leo’s vocals, adding in a sultry touch. Although they don’t sport matching outfits in this stage, their clothes are very complementary, which ties in to their soulmate concept for this comeback. One of the highlights for me is definitely the choreography, which is dynamic, smooth and definitely shows off their skills.
