Best of Weekly Music Shows: 4/7- 4/13

This week saw a return to regular airings for all the major music shows, and the return to form was accompanied by some great performaces. A Pink, Eric Nam,  and N.CA all made comebacks, with Akdong Musician and 2000 Won making their debut. A Pink was the big winner with “Mr. Chu”, taking first place on every single music show.

These are some performances that caught my eye. Any that stood out to you?

Super Junior-M– “Swing”, MBC Show! Music Core, April 12, 2014

The red and black outfits are definitely eye-catching, but the energy level here is just through the roof, taking “Swing” from fun to epic.

Orange Caramel– “Catellena” MBC Show! Champion, April 9, 2014

As someone who hates aegyo, it never ceases to amaze me how amazing Orange Caramels’ stages are. This week was no exception, with Show! Champion winning out  due to the energy, and the adorable 60’s-esque egg dresses.

MIB– “Chisa Bounce” SBS Inkigayo, April 13, 2014

MIB are set to slay with this round of promotions. They always seem to flirt with the line between confidence and arrogance and it is glorious. Side note: how fun are these subtitles?

NS Yoon-G– “Yasisi” KBS Music Bank, April 11, 2014

NS Yoon-G certainly proved that simpler is sometimes better. This wasn’t her flashiest, most elaborate stage of the week, but it was assuredly her best.

Ailee– “I Will Always Love You”, KBS Immortal Song, April 12, 2014

This is not an easy song, especially when you have to equal Whitney freakin’ Houston. Yet, Ailee not only equals her, she gives her own take on a ubiquitous number, not an easy feat. While the original was tinged with desperation, Ailee’s is a declaration with the staying power of an unmovable object.

Wings– “Hair Short”, MBC Show! Champion, April 9, 2014

No matter how times they perform it, “Hair Short” never fails to resonate with power and emotion.
