You know how you like something before everyone else does and you’re all fanatical about it because it’s your little secret? Well, that’s how I felt about the group Secret. They had solid vocals, fun catchy songs and best of all, they were fierce. Now they’ve got a popular concept that I don’t care for, and I admit that takes the shine off them a little bit. Now, I have a feeling history is going to repeat itself with Girl’s Day.
I’m not implying they are exceptionally talented (even to the level of Secret), but I do see potential there, especially after the change in lineup. But they are going to continue with what made them popular which is what the audience got in ‘Twinkle Twinkle.’
But as with what usually happens with girl groups, they made a catchy poppy song, started their own fashion statement (if you call frilly baby doll display panties fashion) and voila! You’re charting on Music Bank.
I have always suspected, especially with these super-cutesy groups, that those personalities are like turning off a light switch. Much like Secret we’ve seen other sides of these groups so we know they exist.
Check out their comeback MV – an interactive-music-video-concept, which has me intrigued. Much like Secret, even with a softer concept, you still get the feeling the girls are being genuine. The comeback, I’m looking forward to it. How about you? What do you think? Are Girl’s Day gaining momentum? Has Secret gone soft with their popularity?
