First half of 2009 in k-pop: the Bad

Follow-up to the Good post, here is the Bad. Just in case, if you haven’t noticed (if you haven’t… where have you been?), this three part special is a reference to an awesome Korean movie called The Good, the Bad, the Weird. If you haven’t seen it, well, you should.
So in this post, I’ll be talking about what I thought (and again, note the first person tense) was particularly bad in the last 6 months. And bad = anything cringe-worthy.

2NE1 Gets Parodied

…. but in a rather nice way. Besides, if you really think about it, with all the over-the-top wackiness of their initial debut, in a way, 2NE1 were already parodying themselves….
Anyway, for the July 3rd episode of Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook, actress/singer Jang Nara, comedian Park Kyung Lim and singer Lee Soo Young transformed themselves into Park Bom, Dara and CL respectively to form the girl group…3NE1! The inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center have concocted something new: They dance to Super Junior’s latest, “Sorry, Sorry.” The inmates have danced to various hit songs in the past, including Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” Flo-Rida’s “Low,” and even a track from Slumdog Millionaire’s soundtrack, “Jai Ho.” These guys are extremely fun, and hey, dancing to famous songs is a pretty nice way to pass your time at a detention facility.
Watch them do their latest with “Sorry, Sorry”:

I have a huge fear of clusters and watching this ridiculously …

Epik High and Jung Hyun Don collaboration?

What does the chubby comedian possibly have to contribute musically when being paired up with Epik High?  Apparently, humor can be used as a source of inspiration for music because Jung Hyung Don and Epik High will officially be recording their song, “BBQ”, which they recently performed together for an “Infinity Challenge” episode.  “BBQ” is a song that was written and arranged by Tablo and was the result of a team challenge in which the “Infinity Challenge” members were paired up with different singers and required to come up with a …
