I’ve been on a bit of reading binge recently. I’ve always loved reading, but recently my preferred form of entertainment has been almost exclusively books. No movies, no tv shows, no fanfics, just novels. If I’m playing games or doing chores, it’s to an audiobook. Preferably romance novels, due to escapism, the deep-seated comfort that no matter what happens, I can count on a happy ending, and lots of spice.
However! My reading enjoyment is hindered by the fact that I find quiet distracting, but I can’t listen to anything too engaging lest I end up ignoring my book, but if it’s too relaxing I fall asleep and can’t read my book. This rules out YouTube videos, low-fi beats, and most music. If a song’s too upbeat, I’m dancing and not reading, but if it’s not good enough, I’m irritatedly skipping tracks and not reading.
Therefore, I have put together a playlist of songs that soundtrack a reading binge perfectly: smooth enough to tickle the brain without pulling me out of the fae court or changeling pack or murder mystery with sexual tension or Regency England. May this help my fellow readers whose minds cannot seem to focus.
