Perhaps it’s the first fall chill in the air, the plethora of recent high-profile horror movies in the U.S. where I’m based, or just the fact that Halloween isn’t far off. But for whatever reason, I’m in a horror mood. And as with most things, there’s a K-pop song for that.
Horror has had its ebbs and flows of popularity in K-pop, but it can’t be truly killed, visually or sonically. This mixtape is just a sample of what K-pop horror has to offer, starting with more atmospheric options and meandering towards a handful of operatic, camp classics. There’s also a range of specific horror vibes: from obsession, to apocalyptic action, to gothic mansions & suave monsters. Dig in….and don’t forget to leave a light on, a pointy object handy, and an eye cracked!
