As mentioned a few times previously, I have a raging case of insomnia. Sometimes it’s brought on by external stress, sometimes my anxiety kicks into gear, sometimes I have nightmares or just odd dreams; I spent the last quarter of 2019 unable to fall or stay asleep for no discernible reason. For as long as I can remember, sleep has been a begrudging ally rather than a friend.
Still, when you spend your entire life with a broken off button, you learn some tricks. Whether deep breathing, or keeping a chill in the room, I’ve found ways to make it easier to nod off. Still, the most effective tactic I’ve found is having something to listen too. There’s a fine line to tread, interesting enough to keep me from being bored as I lie in the dark, but relaxing enough to allow me to tune in and out while waiting for sleep.
This is a playlist of K-pop songs I turn to when it is 4:30 in the morning and I have yet to sleep. May it help others stuck in the same situation.
