Welcome back to another installment of For Your Viewing Pleasure, where we take time out of the week to curate a set of photos from the K-pop landscape.
The term “shoulder gangster” has been used in the Korean entertainment industry to describe male celebrities with broad shoulders, hence making them attractive. Females do not often desire to be described with such a phrase, preferring to align with the image of being slender. However, there is a way to subvert such impressions and make such a description fashionable for females, and possibly even males. Broader shoulders in women’s fashion can be associated with more flamboyant styles, as Chungha demonstrates with her choice of an oversized coat and a boldly designed dress. Son Dam-bi and Chun Woo-hee also pull off a more vintage look with puffy sleeves, proving that broad shoulders are not only restricted to males, and can be equally flattering with the right choice of apparel.
