Paul McCartney once said, “Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs/ And what’s wrong with that, I’d like to know.” Well, Paul, I’d like to know, too. Love songs have a bad reputation as being lazy or hackneyed, or just not as artistic as other types of songs. I say no more!
Sometimes, you need a silly love song or two. They make people feel happy. Plus, with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, all the new romances crafted by Cupid and the old ones reinvigorated by red hearts will need a soundtrack. Are these songs cheesy? Yes. Silly? Of course! Guaranteed to make you smile as thoughts of that special someone flood your mind? I’d like to think so.
