K-pop companies know as well as anybody to capitalize on holiday cheer, hence the barrage of Christmas songs and albums, releasing like clockwork since the beginning of December.

Fresh off the presses is SM Entertainment’s mega-sized boy group Exo-K’s release “Miracles in December,” a 6-track EP with holiday-flecked R&B songs. “My Turn to Cry” is a jangly acoustic number with vocals sweet and a little sleepy, reminiscent of the crooning Western boy-banders of yesteryear.

Six-membered Exo-K makes up half of the larger group Exo, promoting mostly in Korea, while their brother group Exo-M performs in China with Chinese versions of the same songs. After a successful year of promoting their first full-lengh album, “Miracles in December” is mostly a throwaway EP to tide fans over until the frantic hit-making producers at SM Entertainment conjure up more radio-friendly hits next year.
