We’re a week closer to Christmas and the end of 2012 with a flurry of things going on and a whole lotta snow in Seoul, what did K-pop have in store for us last week? Actress Lee Si-young is a step closer to making Korea’s National Women’s  Boxing Team, 100% sing of “A Guy Like Me,” Sweet Sorrow released “The Story of December,” Hwayobi contibuted to the My Love, Madame Butterfly OST, Jun Hyun-mooPark Eun-ji, and Hyun Young will be the guests on the final episode of The Go Showmiss A take on SISTAR on Let’s Go Dream Team 2, 2000 Won continue to impress on K-pop Star2, and things get all warm and fuzzy on King of Dramasfor about a second.

The following are the 5 Things that happened in K-pop last week that I think were a bit more special than the rest.  If you aren’t up-to-date on your K-pop and don’t like to be spoiled, turn back now.

5. A Special Halo

World renowned South Korean pianist Yiruma and SISTAR‘s Hyorin get together for a special performance on Naver to sing their rendition of Beyonce‘s “Halo.”  It’s a wonderful performance with Yiruma’s piano playing and Hyorin’s power vocals.

4. Hyun Bin Returns

On December 6th, actor Hyun Bin was released from his military duty after completing 21 months with the Marines.  His release was almost as big as his farewell as hundreds of fans and tons of media braved the winter weather to welcome Hyun Bin back to civilian life.  Hyun Bin was moved to tears seeing the crowd and their donations of rice in his name as he talked of his life in the Marines and how he missed acting.  Hyun Bin continued to show his appreciation by stopping at a rest stop where 15 buses filled with fans were parked and then proceeded to board each bus and greet his fans. Representatives have said that Hyun Bin will take some time off to rest, spend time with family and let his hair grow back before getting back into the swing of things.  2013 in K-dramaland is looking bright already, welcome back Hyun Bin!

3. A hay-raising situation on Running Man

Love 911 stars Go Soo and Han Hyo-joo were the guests on the last episode of Running Man. Among other games they participated in during the show was a hay stack race, which reminded me much of Family Outing, in which HaHa showed what I’m thinking is the difference in him being a bachelor and a married man.

2. B1A4 know The Way to Live Like a Man

The latest episode of Immortal Song 2 honored the music of Kim Bum-ryong and Sandeul and Baro of B1A4 performed the song “The Way to Live Like a Man.”  The performance brought a #1 win for the duo as Sandeul’s sorrowful singing wowed the crowd and proved that the boys of B1A4 are all grown up.  I’m not a big B1A4 fan or that familiar with them, but Sandeul’s vocals were something that definitely put them on the map for me–his performance was impressive.

 1. A Freezing Challenge

It was HaHa’s Wedding Bus special on the Infinity Challenge where the members competed to find out how much they would have to contribute to HaHa’s congratulatory gift (which turned out to be a donation in rice to the needy).  Among the challenges that the members had to do was to beg fans on the street for outerwear after being stripped down to bodysuits and shorts.  I hope they returned all those clothes…

Those were the 5 things that I LOVED in K-pop last week, were they yours?
