Finally, the plagiarism case for C. N. Blue‘s hit debut song has come to a close. A Seoul District Court judge ruled against the plaintiff, K-indie group Ynot, who claimed that the chorus of C.N.Blue’s “I’m a Loner” was a rip off of their song “Blue Bird.” Ynot filed the lawsuit for $50,000 USD in March 2010, just two months after C.N. Blue took the Kpop scene by storm with their hit song.
The plagiarism case wasn’t actually against C.N. Blue or their management FNC Music, it was against the co-writers of the song Kim Do-hoon and Lee Sang-hoon. I have to admit that I had my doubts because the songs did seem really similar, but I am glad for C.N. Blue’s sake that this issue is over. It really did mar an awesome debut by the band and brought a lot of controversy and criticism upon their shoulders. Time to move on to bigger and better things.
