I am, decidedly, not a morning person. Unfortunately, the world is not on my side in this matter, and when it comes to work, school, and general adulting, there are a plethora of times when I am called on not only to wake up at some ungodly time, but to actually do something at said time.

Such was the case one spring morning, when I found myself at the airport, and in the longest TSA line I’ve ever seen, at the glorious time of 5am. The kind of music that will help you physically and mentally survive this travail is specific: It has to be energetic (the better to keep you awake!), but not too energetic (the aim is standing and alert, not jumping in place and filled with adrenaline). The best way I could describe it is softly upbeat, or maybe just ‘friendly,’ like a cheerful good morning in the form of a song.

Below are the songs I, literally, stood in a line at 5am to. If you are ever faced with a similar challenge, I hope they pull you through too!
