Best of Weekly Music Shows is back with another round of great stages! Even though it’s winter time, many performances brought the heat with intense choreography and upbeat jams. As 2017 winds down to a close, so do the promotions of many groups like Astro and Red Velvet. Old school favorite Rain made his long-awaited comeback, which made a lot of Clouds happy. Soloist Minseo had her debut with fantastic results, winning for the first time on SBS Inkigayo.
She’s not alone in the weekly celebrations as Wanna One took home trophies for “Beautiful” on KBS Music Bank and MBC Show! Music Core. Congratulations to everyone!
It’s awards show season, so MBC Show Champion will not air for the remainder of the year. We might be down a show, but that doesn’t mean the idols skimped on quality performances. These are just a few of my favorites from the past week.

Marmello‘s “Can’t Stop”, KBS Music Bank, December 1, 2017
You’re not imagining things. This is a female band on a music show. Whether you think they’re mediocre or not, I’m thankful for the variety. Seeing a band is a rarity, so coming across a girl band is even more intriguing. These girls are bubbly and fun, traits common in many female groups. I appreciate them for going outside the box of who we usually expect on music shows.

DK and KMJ‘s “About My Only Love”, KBS Music Bank, December 1, 2017
I can’t quite put my finger on what it is, but I enjoy these two together. It’s probably the combination of her high vocals paired with his low mellow tone. Their chemistry is fairly decent. When they sing, they sound distant yet you can feel a slight connection. I wonder if this was done purposely for the theme of the song. If that’s the case, kudos on the execution.

Lovelyz‘s “Twinkle”, KBS Music Bank, December 1, 2017
I want it all for Christmas. I want the tree, the candy canes, and the hot cocoa. Lovelyz embodies the spirit of the season in darling dresses and a festive routine to match. Is it cheesy and commercial? Sure, but when has the holiday season not been that? All I know is I feel like dancing around the house draped in tinsel like a drunk elf after watching this.

Monsta X‘s “Dramarama”, SBS Inkigayo, December 3, 2017
Truth be told, I did a double take during the first watch because I wasn’t sure if Monsta X was topless under their jackets. As it turns out, my perv mode was clearly set to high thirst levels since they were wearing flesh-toned shirts. Nude illusion aside, I love the intensity of their gaze when they perform. The guys are in it to win it, and I’m 100% here for it.

Astro’s “Crazy Sexy Cool”, SBS Inkigayo, December 3, 2017
I’m going to miss these adorable dorks. With this being one of their last stages of this promotion cycle, it’s only fitting that Astro would do something a little special for Aroha. The group decided to turn up the cuteness with an aegyo-filled performance. I lost count of how many finger hearts they shot, but I could feel the love. This was a sweet ending that will hopefully keep fans satisfied until their next comeback.
Readers, what were your favorite stages from last week?
