We’re back with the next edition of OST Roundup. While last month’s list consisted of mainly releases from Three Days and Sly and Single Again, this month’s features a more varied menu of choices. Not to mention that BoA’s movie, Make Your Move, was recently released, so of course, SM artists made their presence know by contributing a couple of OSTs.
TVXQ‘s “Running on Empty”, Make Your Move OST
[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjIrlIjT4MM]Showing support for their favourite sunbaenim BoA‘s movie, TVXQ released the English version of a single off their recent album, “Off-Road”, in addition to Yunho’s cameo appearance. While their English pronunciation is not perfect, the song still boasts impressive vocals by the duo, and the catchy instrumental beat remains a delight to the ears.
Kim Hyun-joong‘s “When Today Passes”, Inspiring Generation OST
[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgSaueSYnCE]Helming an OST for his own drama, Kim Hyun-joong finally busts out his ballad chops. And, it surprisingly turned out much more pleasant than I expected — going solo has definitely turned out favourable for him. The song has a beautiful piano melody, and the listener can easily feel the stirring emotion through his voice.
Kim Bo-kyung‘s “Words I Shouted in My Heart”, Three Days OST
[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twXFoRS_5DE]After pulling out the big guns last month with Gummy and 4men, Three Days once again managed to get OST heavyweight Kim Bo-kyung to feature on the OST. Considering Three Days has been sold to China for the highest price that a K-drama has ever fetched, it comes as no surprise that they would want to deliver a stellar soundtrack, and deliver it they did. Her impressive vocals are the highlight of the song, and it anchors the emotion magnificently.
Sandeul (B1A4)’s “Because It Hurts”, God’s Gift – 14 Days OST
[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMh7PfL_qVo]Another artist showing support for his fellow group member appearing in God’s Gift, the main vocalist of B1A4 displays his smooth and sweet vocals for this heart-wrenching ballad. As I mentioned in the last edition, God’s Gift is just killing me with its heartrending choice of titles for its soundtracks, especially when put in the context of a mother’s love for her child.
Dong-jun (ZE:A) & SoReal‘s “Hold My Hand”, Climb the Sky Walls OST
[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAuIsx-JjVc]SoReal has been on my radar ever since their debut, which led to my endless browsing of their various covers on their YouTube channel. It’s opportunistic of them to gain recognition through their labelmates ZE:A, who, unfortunately, is also underrated in their own right. This song has winsome harmonies and exhibits their first-rate vocals, and I can’t wait to see SoReal win more chances to flex their vocal muscles.
J-Cera‘s “Star”, Love Rides the Song OST
[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVUsSa5mpOQ]Another heartfelt ballad with a building climax that I absolutely can’t hear enough of. The melody is absolutely stunning, especially the rising melody of the chorus which is an absolute pleasure to listen to.
So these are my picks for my favourite OSTs for the month of April, what are some of you favourites?
