Ah, so much Kpop to see and love how can one narrow it down to just five? For you all, I try… and now, on to 5 Things: Those Men with That Man, Not Happy Together, Maybe this Wonder Girl rocks, a Big Bang in a Taxi, and Waiting for Dream High. These are the 5 Things that happened in Kpop last week that I think were a little bit more special than the rest.
Those Men with That Man
The popularity of Secret Garden remains strong with the drama still being mentioned in news stories even though it ended almost a month ago. Recently, a couple Kpop boyband members have tried their hand (voice?) at tackling Hyun Bin‘s “That Man.” First up is Chunji of Teen Top with a sweet version:
and then SuJu maknae Kyuhyun tested his chops out during an episode of Super Junior’s Kiss the Radio, I can only imagine how much better it could have been without the echoing..
Not Happy Together
Last week’s guests on the Korean variety show Happy Together were Yunho & Changmin, Onew, and Luna, Krystal & Sulli. On the show, head MC Yoo Jae-suk lost a round of gawi-bawi-bo and had to be Onew’s “helper” at showing off his talent- having an iron finger that he can crack walnuts with… yikes. Of course Jae-suk got Park Myung-soo to be a victim too.
Being the leader of SHINee, I wonder if Onew developed this skill while keeping his donsaengs in line?
Maybe Sun- ye rocks
Wonder Girl leader Sun-ye was taped singing the song “Maybe” which she did for the Dream High OST at a Korean church in New York. Maybe this performance rocked, and just maybe Sun-ye continues to impress.
Seungri calls his hyungs on Taxi
Seungri appeared on the latest episode of talk show Taxi which is hosted by Gong Hyung-jin and Lee Young-ja. During the show, Seungri called each of the other Big Bang members and the hosts talked to each one of them about Seungri… it was pretty darn hilarious. If you missed it the first time around and would like to see the rest of the calls, check it out here.
Waiting on Dream High
There’s all kinds of love on last week’s episodes of Dream High, the Mission Impossible theme being played on the koto (or ajaeng?) while Teacher Kang , Hye-mi, and Sam-dong walk into the Yakuza wedding was pretty funny. What I loved the most out of the two episodes (I had to try to narrow it down or this would be too long) was the various versions of Panic‘s song “Waiting” that the stars sang on the show. Hye-mi and Sam-dong sang it at the wedding by mistake (becasuse Pil-sook had packed the music for it after seeing Jason listen to it along with the music to the song they were supposed to sing “I Love U, Oh Thank U”) then had to run for their lives.
Pil-sook then sang the song in her hospital room after an exciting, yet disappointing, visit from Jason.
Okay, just two more things about Dream High…
First off, if Hye-mi really wanted to disguise Jin-gook by covering him up with her scarf, she should’ve wrapped up those ears, too… because they’re probably cold, yeah- that’s why (sorry, couldn’t help myself I had to). And second, I’ve been wondering why no one has mentioned ths shot of Jason’s hand during the hospital visit. The director added the shot of his hand purposely, so does that mean it has a purpose? I know it might be nothing, but that ring on his left ring finger… could he possibly have a girlfriend already?
Just a heads up, starting next week 5 things will be coming out on Wednesday nights (I hope). Those were the 5 things that I LOVED in Kpop last week, were they yours?
