Welcome back to another week of Best of Weekly Music Shows! This week featured a diverse array of comebacks from Shinee’s Story of Light to Changmo’s Dnsg to Blackpink’s Square Up to Simon Dominic’s Darkroom: Roommates Only. Taking home the wins on music shows, we had Wanna One’s “Light” for MBC Show Champion, Mnet M! Countdown, KBS Music Bank, and MBC Show! Music Core, as well as Bol4’s “Travel” for SBS Inkigayo. Congratulations to both teams!

Without further ado, here were some of our favorite stages of the week!

Shinee’s “Who Waits For Love”, SBS Inkigayo, June 17, 2018

“Who Waits For Love” is an interesting power ballad featuring hints of the electronic genre and great (live!) harmony by all the members. It’s sophisticated and very much in line with Shinee’s sound, especially at the end with Taemin’s lines. Ballads can be hard to choreograph, but Shinee pulls it off with subtle intricate moves that really catch the eye.

Yubin’s “Lady”, Mnet M! Countdown, June 14, 2018

Simply put, Yubin fits the retro concept like a glove. From the catchy track to the bold red styling to the choreography, this whole performance was put together amazingly well, and really sets the stage for Yubin as a solo artist.

Black Pink’s “Forever Young”, MBC Show! Music Core, June 16, 2018

Black Pink is the revolution! I have to admit, the first thing that caught my attention for this performance was the outfits — Black Pink’s stylist is killing it this comeback era! While there could have been stronger dance breaks, the group makes up for it with their charisma. No matter the genre or performance, all the members always stay classy, and it’s probably one of the reasons why so many of us are drawn to them.

Victon’s “Time of Sorrow”, KBS Music Bank, June 15, 2018

A friend actually recommended this performance to me; while I had heard of Victon, I wasn’t particularly caught up to date with their latest release. Their stage for “Time of Sorrow” was pleasantly surprising, featuring a powerful track with equally powerful and diverse choreography. This is definitely a group to look out for!

fromis_9’s “DKDK”, SBS Inkigayo, June 17, 2018

fromis_9’s comeback with “DKDK” can be summed up in a few words: sweet, (a touch of) spice, and everything nice. From the catchy pop track to the casual but cute individual outfits to the delicious stage featuring cupcakes in the background, these are the charismatic girls next door, just having a great time on stage!
