Welcome back to another installment of Best of Weekly Music Shows! Although Mnet M! Countdown did not air a show this week owing to the upcoming MAMA shows, MBC Show! Music Core was resumed, so there is an extra music show to keep on the lookout for! EXID took home their first win for “DDD” on SBS The Show, Twice grabbed a fourth trophy for “Likey” on SBS Inkigayo, while Wanna One was crowned on the remaining four music shows, MBC Show Champion, Mnet M! Countdown, KBS Music Bank and MBC Show! Music Core. Congratulations to all three groups!

Here were some of our favourite stages of the week!

Red Velvet’s “Peek-A-Boo”, MBC Show! Music Core, November 25, 2017

Red Velvet is killing it with their stages for their comeback this time! I am glad that we have moved on from the horrendous days of mismatched clothing that we shall not speak of; the members’ outfits for this stage in particular are stunning — the dark green, silver, and black colour scheme makes for a classy and elegant mood to match the velvety title track. The whole group just emanates coolness and sultriness in the performance, and it’s just the perfect stage to watch.

Pentagon’s “Runaway”, SBS Inkigayo, November 26, 2017

The stage for “Runaway” is, simply put, sleek. From the flashy stage to the trendy black-and-white outfits to the sharp choreography, everything was perfectly tailored to the cool, electronic dance track. What made the stage all the more special, however, was Universes’ crazy loud fanchants!

KARD’s “You In Me”, MBC Show Champion, November 22, 2017

In an industry saturated with boy and girl groups, KARD really stands out on stage because of their co-ed dynamic. The group has an exciting and more mature performance for “You In Me”, with the highlight being the strong and powerful choreography that perfectly fits all the members of the group, female or male. There are some moves in the chorus that closely resemble some of their previous choreography, which to me is a bit disappointing as I had hoped for something new and unique, but to each their own.

Samuel’s “Candy”, KBS Music Bank, November 24, 2017

It’s easy to forget just how young Samuel is — for your reference, he’s a 02-liner — you would honestly never be able to tell that he’s just 15 from the coolness and charisma he just exudes in his performance of “Candy”. As a solo artist, it can be daunting to take on the stage alone, but he does it with the confidence, grace, and maturity of a veteran artist.

Gugudan’s “Chococo”, SBS Inkigayo, November 26, 2017

Gugudan’s performance for “Chococo” is your typical peppy pop song, with an absolutely adorable stage to boot. The members really know how to work the stage; even with nine members, it doesn’t feel crowded or awkward, and the synchronisation of the group is very commendable!
