Welcome back to another instalment of Best of Weekly Music Shows! This week saw Highlight taking home a win for “Can Be Better” on SBS The Show, while BtoB took home four wins for “Missing You” on MBC Show Champion, Mnet M! Countdown, KBS Music Bank, and SBS Inkigayo. Congratulations to both groups! Epik High, AOA’s Jimin, as well as Teen Top’s Chunji and GFriend’s Eunha were among the artists who released new music!

Without further ado, here were some of our favourite moments of the week!

GOT7’s “You Are”, KBS Music Bank, October 27, 2017

Or should I say GOT6? Our leader JB was unfortunately away due to filming for Law of the Jungle, and given his unique vocal colour, you would think that it would be impossible to cover for him, but Youngjae did a seriously amazing job in adding his own warm timbre and style to the chorus. I have really enjoyed the group’s comeback this time around, they look and seem so comfortable and happy promoting music that they truly enjoy, and the title track “You Are” is just such an emotionally-liberating track to listen to.

Chunji’s and Eunha’s “Hold Your Hand”, Mnet M! Countdown, October 26, 2017

At first glance, this seems like an unlikely pairing, but they do make a rather adorable pairing! The stage was everything — from the bubbles drifting about to the flowery swings — it looked like a scene straight out of a fairytale. This perfectly matched with their sweet voices for this soft and melodious duet; honestly, this performance gave me cavities! The only thing is that Chunji and Cunha were sitting a little too far away from each other, and the distance was a little awkward considering the duet is titled “Hold Your Hand”, ironically.

Taemin’s “Move”, KBS Music Bank, October 27, 2017

Taemin’s comeback has seriously been underrated — it is pure art. This specific performance was chosen because you can clearly hear him singing live, an incredible feat considering the crazy dancing that he has to do. His powerful and sensual moves paired with his charismatic stage presence makes every stage just so unforgettable.

JBJ’s “Fantasy”, SBS Inkigayo, October 29, 2017

If I’m going to be honest, I haven’t really paid attention to JBJ’s debut, I simply knew them as a collection of contestants from Produce 101 Season 2. However, after watching a few of their stages, I can understand their hype — they have great stage presence and really know how to work the stage! The song “Fantasy” is strong, dark, with a touch of sexy, and the boys pull it off very well.

4Men’s “Break Up In The Morning”, SBS Inkigayo, October 29, 2017

4Men is an older duo, consisting of members Shin Yong-jae and Kim Won-jae, that debuted in 1998. As the weather turns colder, this is the perfect nostalgic ballad to bless your ears with. It’s a simple stage with the two members just singing and it’s by no means perfect, but you can really appreciate their perfect synchronised harmony and more importantly, the raw emotion in their voices.
