Put your hands up for another round of the Best of Weekly Music Shows! With some larger names prepping for comebacks in October, now is the ideal time to debut new faces and push those solos. It’s not often that there is a window of opportunity to build up a fan base when competing with more established and popular names, so seeing more rookie groups use this chance is awesome. SeventeenRed Velvet and Monsta X are doing just that, and Up10tion also made an explosive entrance onto the scene. Not to be singled out (pun intended) were solo comebacks from Junho, Jun Jin and Kangnam.

SNSD continued their domination on the music shows with three triple crowns for “Lion Heart,” which is quite the admirable feat. Congrats, ladies!

Among the performances seen throughout the week, I’ve chosen a select few that delighted me. As always, all are welcomed to comment below with their own favorites.

“Dream Candy,” April, SBS Inkigayo, September 13, 2015

This group is not for the stone of heart. I can’t put my finger on what it is exactly, but for some reason, I want to hug each and every member of this group. They exude a charm that brings a smile to my face. A lot of cutesy groups tend to overdo the sugary sweetness to the point of artificiality, but I feel like this one is the real thing.

“Huk,” Unicorn, Mnet M! Countdown, September 10, 2015

If you don’t recognize this group, it’s okay because they’re new! They made their debut this month, and so far, they seem promising. I enjoy the throwback pop flavor of their song, but I’ll admit the title is nagging me for no reason other than realizing they probably meant “Hug.” Awkward translations aside, what isn’t difficult to interpret is the talent of these ladies.

“Chocolate,” Kangnam, SBS Inkigayo, September 13, 2015

I love chocolate, so I’m a sucker for any songs involving it. All right, the truth is Jackson from Got7 popped up, and I became super hyped and happy. It’s hard to overlook a song that features your bias. Kangnam is also charming, but seeing Jackson definitely boosted the song’s appeal.

“Fire,” Junho, Mnet M! Countdown, September 10, 2015

Speaking of those who make me weak, guess who officially picked her 2pm bias after years of having none? I never realized how charismatic Junho was until watching this performance. When you’ve seen stiff soloists barely moving their lips and looking like scared bunnies on camera, you’re grateful for a confident vocalist with great stage presence. Junho just oozes a sensual smoothness, which is very naughty and nice.

“Mansae,” Seventeen, Mnet M! Countdown, September 10, 2015

Naughty and nice seems to be the running theme for these rookies. The more I see from them, the more I’m glad I chose them as one of the best debuts of 2015 so far. Their energy is infectious, and their songs make you want to get up and dance with them. Just be sure to clear a wide space beforehand to avoid breaking stuff…

Those were my selections for the past week, but what were yours? Share them in the comments!
