Welcome to our regular segment, Best of Weekly Music Shows! This week was down three shows from the usual five: Show Champion is on hiatus until the new year; M! Countdown aired a highlight special with #1 winners from 2014; and SBS had their Gayo Daejun program instead of Inkigayo. This week, we had Music Bank’s Year End Special and a regular Music Core episode. The only announced winner was A Pink for both M! Countdown and Music Core. I’ll be pulling from only the two aired shows and not the SBS year-end special: keep your eyes out for a recap of the show coming later! Also, please share your favorites from the week below.

Infinite‘s “White Confession (Lately)” + “Back,” KBS Music Bank, December 19, 2014

This performance makes my list because it has the holiday feel to it. Starting “White Confession (Lately)” in the crowds made the song more welcoming to an audience. And “Back” is always a great performance to see again. Particularly notable was how Sungyeol was positioned in front of the screen just so well during his solo part that he appeared to have wings.

BEAST‘s “12:30” + “Good Luck,” KBS Music Bank, December 19, 2014

BEAST’s performances are on the somber side in style and sound, but they’re no less welcome. The group’s releases of the year are both strong ones with equally dynamic and sharp performances.

Shinee‘s Taemin‘s “Danger,” KBS Music Bank, December 19, 2014

Taemin’s a performer, through and through, and each performance of “Danger” really shows that. His entire appearance from his outfit to his makeup to the stylishly disheveled hair really commit to his darker concept and help him shine on stage.

Sistar‘s “Touch My Body,” Yoo Hee-yeol’s Sketchbook, December 19, 2014

You’ve probably seen this performance already, but I had to include in this week’s set. The monkey suits actually made their weird butt-shake dance adorable, heart and all. Bora clearly got very into the ape-act, and it was great to see everyone just embrace what they were wearing and have fun with the concept.

So-hyang‘s cover of Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” KBS Open Concert, December 21, 2014

And to just celebrate the holidays, I couldn’t resist adding in a performance of a Christmas song. While not all of us celebrate Christmas, most can relate to the energetic holiday spirit. Plus, who can resist the little kids?

Happy Holidays, everyone!
