Where was it that I came into the awesomeness that is KPOP? Why, where everyone comes into their dreams and finds themselves: that hallowed institution we call a “liberal arts college”. In moving from the “best” coast (”WEST SIDE!!!”) to the traditional chill of New England, I came into my “Asian-ness.” With friends from all over the world, let alone all over the country, and cultural shows and festivals every other weekend, I assumed a new identity: SUPER AZN. My friends and I would watch Asian dramas as study breaks (I’m talking Meteor Garden and Coffee Prince) and Youtube Kpop music videos and performances (loved all the WonderBang especially) like it was our job. Especially during finals periods. Now I eat, sleep and shop all things Asian. And thank goodness for my friends who love me despite it.

PS. I am an equal opportunity hater so don’t let your panties get in a twist, butthurt fans.

FAVORITES:
# Music: Weezer, Jason Mraz, Cobra Starship, The Click Five, Big Bang,  The Sounds, Debussy, Clazziquai, random country, 80s, and other asian music. Currently really into: Danger Radio, 2PM, Yelle, and the new Tiger JK.

# Movies: The Rock, Koizora, Casino Royale, Singin’ in the Rain, The Boondock Saints, How to Steal a Million, Centerstage, Junebug, The Family Stone, Oldboy, Peter Pan (2004 with Jeremy Sumpter), The Philadelphia Story, Hidalgo, The Prestige, American Psycho, Zoolander, City of God, Idle Hands, Now and Then, Star Trek (2009)

# Shows: Brothers & Sisters, We Got Married (Summer 2008), Jeopardy, and anything on the Food Network or Travel and Discovery Channels. Also, I really enjoy Asian dramas-so much more entertaining than all the reality TV on American networks although my guilty pleasure is definitely the Real Housewives series on Bravo.

# Books: everything by Edward Bloor, anything by Nick Hornby, the Jessica Darling-Marcus Flutie love saga by Megan McCafferty, A Clockwork Orange, Candide, The Shadow of the Wind (La Sombra del Viento), Gone With the Wind, Ivanhoe, Tess of the D’Urbavilles, The Chocolate War and the column Savage Love by Dan Savage

Boo. I didn’t mean to scare you! I just wanted to make sure that everyone knows I don’t *hate* on any group specifically or for no reason, but that I usually criticize those I am disappointed in or whom I expect more from. And to be honest, sometimes (rather, a lot of the time) butthurt fans scare me. Fan should not = FANATIC. ^_^

      Keep reading SB!

Loving the comment “And thank goodness for my friends who love me despite it.”
I’m not Asian nor are any of my friends….they all think I’m nuts – but still show me love….Bless em.

Yeah some of the fans are bonkers! particularly when someone they like are just PICTURED with a person of the opposite sex, or when someone dares say something slightly negative about their group…I have to say I find it most bizarre, often disturbing, but quite funny.

I have to admit I actually got a little excited when I saw the Jessica Darling series listed in the books you like!
