Can you believe it’s time for another Best of Weekly Music Shows? We finally got to see all of NCT perform together. VIXX, Imfact, The Rose, and In2it had comebacks as well. Even though it’s early, we’re also getting more festival performances, such as Mnet‘s M! Countdown for KCON Japan 2018. It has been a busy week.

Celebrations are in order for Monsta X who won first place on SBS The Show for “Jealousy”. As for the rest of the trophies, Twice took all of those home from SBS Inkigayo, MBC Show Champion and Show! Music Core, Mnet M! Coundown, and KBS Music Bank. Great job!

My picks for this past week aren’t a direct reflection of anyone’s popularity. I just liked the stages that appealed to me. If you have some you enjoyed, feel free to share them in the comments below.

SF9, Golden Child, and The Boyz‘s girl group cover, Mnet M! Countdown, April 19, 2018

Although I enjoyed the boy group cover by Cosmic Girls, Momoland, and Gugudan, my nostalgia kicked with The Boyz’s cover of “Lupin” by KARA. They hit the major dance points without the usual aegyo antics that accompany many of these girl group covers. Golden Child did keep things light and adorable, but that’s just the group themselves. SF9 topped off the performance with their rendition of SNSD‘s “Run Devil Run”, infusing a ruggedness that made the song gritty and dangerous.

Cosmic Girls’ “Dreams Come True”, Mnet M! Countdown, April 19, 2018

I literally picked this for the awesome dance break at the end. As I’ve said before, when it comes to festivals or award shows, idols should go all out. These chances to display your best and more don’t happen for everyone, so I’m glad that Cosmic Girls chose this opportunity to showcase their solid dancing. With every performance, there’s more to love and admire about this group.

The Rose’s “Baby”, MBC Show Champion, April 18, 2018

The band is gaining more fans with this comeback. They’ve returned with a retro vibe that has a bit of a Coachella in it. Their style is slightly different, but it remains true to the group’s color. They come off as hipster minus the cramped coffee house. The entire feel of this performance echoes a concert, which makes sense since they’re set to have this year. Also, they’re a super good band.

NCT 2018‘s “Black on Black”, SBS Inkigayo, April 22, 2018

It’s overwhelming to have the entirety of NCT together for a single song, yet here we are. Initially, the idea of 18 people dancing together on a small stage sounded preposterous. That doesn’t mean I didn’t want this to happen; I’m glad it did. It’s amazing to see NCT 2018 as a full unit because we get more dynamic formations with all of the members. It’s the whole group, so I don’t have any reason to complain.

VIXX’s “Scentist”, KBS Music Bank, April 20, 2018

Does anyone in VIXX possess a bone in their body? They move so smoothly that it’s difficult to believe they’re not made of actual rubber. Look at those isolations. Look at N and Leo coming for everyone through their intense gazes. Look at the outfits. Those aren’t roses raining down; those are my bloody tears falling to the floor. But seriously, Starlights, how are you surviving this amount of fine all the time? I’m exhausted already, and it’s only the first week for them.
