It’s time for another round of the Best of Weekly Music ShowsB.A.P returned this week after a year-long hiatus, and EXID came back with a hot new concept. M.A.P 6 made their debut while Hongki of FT Island went solo for the first time.

This week Show! Music Core introduced its revamped format with new MCs and the elimination of their scoring system. Instead of airing M!Countdown, Mnet opted to air a special in preparation for the MAMA Awards after postponing last week’s show for company reorganization. Inkigayo was sadly cancelled due to the death of a former South Korean president. We offer our sincere condolences in the wake of this event.

In lighter news, VIXX, f(x) and Taeyeon took home trophies, so congratulations to all of them! I’ve compiled a modest list of my favorite performances from the past week, but feel free to add your own in the comments.

B.A.P’s “Young, Wild & Free,” MBC Show! Music Core, November 21, 2015

They may have been gone a year, but B.A.P hasn’t lost their touch on stage. Still as charismatic as ever, it’s great to see this powerful group back. The whistle is beyond obnoxious because it’s so loud, yet I could overlook it to hear the group live again. I also appreciate the camera work in the beginning. Watch the video if you wish to know why.

M.A.P 6’s “Storm,” MBC Show! Music Core, November 21, 2015

Do some of the members of this group look familiar? That’s because they used to be in A-prince. It also explains why they perform better than your typical rookies. Their energy matches the intensity of this song, which is aided by hard-hitting choreography. I don’t know too much about this group, but if they keep performing like this, I might become a fan some day.

Tahiti‘s “SKIP,” MBC Show Champion, November 18, 2015

I haven’t seen Tahiti on the scene for a couple of years, so it’s great to see them again. There’s a soft spot in my heart for quirky, upbeat tunes, and the peppy choreography makes it even more infectious. The ladies look like they’re truly happy on stage, which is a necessary trait for entertainers. When they love what they do, so does their audience.

VIXX’s “Chained Up,” MBC Show Champion, November 18, 2015

Dear Leo, I need you to listen to me. This forbidden love can’t continue between us. N is my bias, so why are you ruining my list? I don’t know who is responsible for putting VIXX in low-cut blazers and dampening their hair, but that person needs a raise. The dancing, the styling — everything is working for me.

Brown Eyed Girls‘s “Brand New World,” MBC Show Champion, November 18, 2015

There was no way I could avoid picking one of my favorite groups. I live for Brown Eyed Girls’ comebacks. Their sensuality oozes so naturally because they’re so confident in themselves. If girl groups want to last as long as this group, they better take notes in owning their ferocity. They should learn how to rock sequin tops as well.

I’m also giving an honorable mention to The Legend for their Show! Music Core performance of “Nail.” They’re a little rough in the singing department, but they have a decent foundation when it comes to stage presence. If they work on those harmonies, they could grow in popularity.

Readers, what are your favorites from last week?
