It’s time for another edition of Best of Weekly Music ShowsB1A4, Wonder Girls, Shinee and T-ara were among the comebacks this week, and we even saw the return of sub-unit GD&TOP. Nostalgic K-pop fans must have felt like they were in a time warp with most of the second generation idols dominating the stages.

When it came to dominating trophies, Beast swept away most of those honors, so a huge congratulations goes out to them! They put on some phenomenal performances, as did others, but only a select few made my list for the week. It was really difficult to narrow down my favorites, but everyone is welcomed to mention which ones they liked from this past week as well.

“Married to the Music,” Shinee, MBC Music Core, August 8, 2015

I love it when groups go all out for their stages. Shinee never holds anything back in their performances, and this one became miles better thanks to the spooky set. Everything from the lighting to their styling was done to the nines. Not a single detail was left unchecked, which is perfect for one of K-pop’s most meticulous groups.

“I Feel You,” Wonder Girls, KBS Music Bank, August 7, 2015

Are they playing those instruments for real? Probably not. Do I care? Definitely not. The “band” concept confused a lot of people, but their ode to the ’80s works wonders for the girls (no pun intended). Also, I love that Yubin is giving all kinds of face to the camera. It may look campy, but what in the ’80s didn’t?

“Devil,” Super Junior, SBS Inkigayo, August 9, 2015

It would’ve been a sin not to include this one. I missed out on their electrifying performance at KCON 2015, but I’m sure watching them live was worth it for their lucky fans. Anytime a group enjoys what they do, it resonates through the screen, so in a way, this is almost as good as being there in person. Super Junior knows how to bring the funk and fun everywhere they go, and that’s so apparent here.

“So Crazy,” T-ara, SBS Inkigayo, August 9, 2015

Normally, I’m not a huge fan of T-ara’s music, but I’m really digging this tune. It’s a shame that their domestic audience can’t forgive their mistakes because this group really is talented. Their smiles are a reminder of their resilience, and I commend them for it. Not going to lie, that finger-pointing dance is the same one I do after eating ice cream, which is another charm of this stage.

“Sweet Girl,” B1A4, KBS Music Bank, August 7, 2015

Listen, you can’t dress up B1A4 to look like characters from Ouran High School Host Club and expect me to keep any amount of chill. White suits with roses, that choreography, and this song — game over! But what really drove my emotions over a freaking cliff was seeing them dancing over a sky-themed floor while paper butterflies floated down. It’s an anime come to life, and I couldn’t handle it.
