Welcome back, readers, to the Best of Weekly Music Shows! Summer is starting to wind down, but it appears no one told Korea that as the onslaught of summer comebacks continues. This week saw the returns of BEAST, Hello Venus, G-Friend and soloist Yu Seungwoo joining an already crowded field. Show! Music Core held it’s Ulsan Summer festival this week, so no winner there, and the rest of winners were split among InfiniteThe Show — and A Pink taking everything else. This week was a hard one in terms of picking the best performances, but this half-dozen or so made my cut.

“Attention”, Wanna.B,The Show, SBS MTV, July 28, 2015

Rookie girl group Wanna.B are certianly packing a punch with their debut track “Attention”. While they’re no slouches in the vocal department, it’s their choreography that truly caught my eye. It’s sharp and crisp, executed with power and precision, yet it doesn’t give off a masculine vibe. This is legit tough girl choreo, and I’m loving it.

“Go Easy”, 4ten, M!Countdown, Mnet, July 30, 2015

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3BttTxHs2c]

“Go Easy” is an overlooked gem of a song. The funk/disco lovechild is addictively upbeat, filled with slides up and down the vocal scales. Still, the stage presence of 4ten is a godsend to an already great song. 4ten are reincarnated disco singers, from their delivery to the flawless sashays and finger shaking. That, or time travelers.

“Vibrato”, Stellar, M!Countdown, Mnet, July 30, 2015

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kI-6ZJzrDzI]

Stellar’s performances of “Vibrato” elevate it from good to a near-masterpiece. The choreography is on point, their moves are synced flawlessly, and their live delivery, while not perfect, is quite good. But what makes Stellar shine here is not what they are doing, but how. They are alive with arrogant distaste, wowing everyone in the audience with their charisma and sexuality, and making it perfectly clear they are above each and every person watching. You cannot touch them, you cannot stop them, you can only admire them.

“Bad”, Infinite, Music Bank , KBS, July 31, 2015

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul6SfRdr24s]

Infinite is a group that can always be counted on to give fabulous live performances. Not just in their excellent dancing, but in their utter devotion to all aspects of a  performance. The emotion resonating through their voices, the intensity of their dancing; it’s all mesmerizing to watch.

“Me Gustas Tu”, G-Friend, Simply K-pop, Arirang, July 31, 2015

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2ID_IT1Jww]

One of my favorite things about G-Friend’s latest comeback is that “Me Gustas Tu” is proof that softer, feminine concepts can be high-energy and that cute concepts don’t need to be saccharine. G-Friend are flowy and adorable, not overwhelming the song, but not getting lost in the concept either.

“Just Right”, Got7, Inkigayo, SBS, August 2, 2015

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zg1lVSazyo]

It would be unthinkable to finish this list without including Got7 somewhere on it. “Just Right” is guaranteed to be a great performance, with Got7’s earnestness and adorability bleeding through every second of performance. It’s impossible to watch without smiling.

Well, those were my favorites of the week, readers. Any you think I missed? Leave them in the comments!
