• Chocho268

The song is, as most kpop releases of this year, basic and underwhelming.

    • http://twitter.com/JohnDeSims JDSono

You’re not a true Kpop fan

      • leesigh3

Just an honest one. The singles this year haven’t been great but the albums have been pretty good.

        • TheJadeBullet

That is too true. We’re being bombarded by mediocre promo songs that just hide all the amazing B-sides.

      • nguyen

        >true kpop fan means that I have to eat every shit they threw out durrrrr

        Yeah I’m definitely not.

        • http://twitter.com/JohnDeSims JDSono

          Then why are you here

          • nguyen

To laugh at those retard like you, and have good discussion about kpop.

          • http://twitter.com/JohnDeSims JDSono

Kpop is our lives, so don’t disrespect it

    • butchick94

      How is this song basic?

  • Andy Preece

I like it! Gentler than previous releases, but interesting. Give it another listen.

But it does raise an interesting possibility – Edinburgh Castle gig – surely, it’s got to happen!

  • TheJadeBullet

Visually, it’s like a less exciting version of Electric Shock. Sonically, it’s not that memorable =/

  • Gaya_SB

Sulli was the highlight for me; she looked great in this MV

    • find_nothing_here

      That hair flatters her immensely.

    • Streby

Sulli really caught my eye, both song and look wise in this mv.

Sulli really caught my eye, both song and look wise in this mv.

  • km313

Incredibly weak. Even for a box set, it’s ridiculous how similar f(x)’s videos are. There were shots I could cross-reference to their previous videos down to the tee. Also, this single confirmed what I suspected with Electric Shock: f(x)’s choreography is not what it used to be. I think I excused the video for ES because the song was good, but this was honestly a drag to watch the first time. I did like how energetic Krystal was though – she commanded my attention a lot.

  • KrisMyStar

The chorus is nice, but the song is kind of eh. Hoping that the rest of the album would be as great as they sound in the highlight medley! SM seems to have this mediocre-title-track-amazing-album thing going on for most of their groups this year.

    • Justy

I know, I seriously don’t get it. Would it take that much more effort to put out a great title song after making other good songs on the album?? It makes no sense.

  • Nate Broadus

    Come they told me,
    Pa rum pum pum pum,
A new born King to see,
    Pa rum pum pum pum…

  • Dhruv Angrup

while i agree with the statement that the mv is typical SM and nothing like the teaser released last week..the song on the other hand is a grower and each time i listen to it…i like it even more

  • NerdSwag

Maybe it’s because I’m a huge f(x) fan, but I’d be a liar if I said I didn’t love this song to death.

  • gdaelly

    Same old same old *sighs

  • Josh Chinnery

Yeah… I never for a second thought that SM was about to go all hipster/indie pop on us. That art film was amazing (Shadow is my second love), but let’s be real guys; that was a teaser, and we all know how SM likes to troll us with teasers >_>

  • Victoria

I think we all knew what to expect when it comes to SM. Does anyone not remember Electric Shock’s concept photos? I think it would be foolish to think it could be any different with f(x) because they are always given the same treatment by SM. I love the song the more I listen to it but the MV is exactly what I was expecting.

  • Shyyrn

    ‘Wisdom Tooth’ emerges…

…I see what you did there, Seoulbeats. ;D

  • danahz

Luna looks so sad in the first pic.

  • ok

I’m glad that SME edited out the bindi Luna was wearing in the teaser…

  • Sophia

The expected excitement and anticipation generated from the teasers to bitter disappointment when the MV drops. Dunno why i ever get my hopes up – if anything SM are consistent in their suckfest

  • Sun_&_Raine

I’m really disappointed, I was actually hoping that the mv was going to be similar to the art film. Well it’s a full-length album not a mini, so maybe we’ll get another mv, one with actual effort put into it.

    • ok

has SME ever done that though? Outside of VCRs and their japanese releases, SME likes putting their idols in metallic rooms to look at more metallic things.

      • TheJadeBullet

        And sniff metallic flowers.

      • Smile

well at least EXO get a drama version. And soon they will get another drama MV

  • kiko

To me, both the mv and the song are really basic and forgettable… it seems like zero effort was put into this comeback, Sm was probably like ‘oh ok f(x) need to comeback, ok let’s give them this unmemorable song and recycled mv and get them out of the way asap’. Idk, nothing stood out about this.

  • http://splashofinspiration.wordpress.com/ Shweta

Am I the only one who really likes the song? (The MV is boring as usual…)

    • ok

It’s a cute song. I usually like their singles and then the albums are horrible :/

      • http://splashofinspiration.wordpress.com/ Shweta

I think what stood out to me most was the compositional strength of “First Wisdom Tooth,” exhibited by the little details. Few songs think beyond creating a solid instrumental loop for the hook, while f(x) has let hook somewhat slide for touches of ingenuity throughout this song. I’m not going to call cubic zirconia a diamond, but a cubic zirconia is nonetheless quite beautiful.

“Cute” rarely (read: never) is enough for me to like a song, but this one does “cute” justice by giving it depth.

    • Deers

i liked the song too! but the song im most looking forward to is the song in their art film

    • Ambika

It took a couple of listens, but I’m digging the song and its layers. Not enough Luna in the MV though. It sucks that she doesn’t get screen time even when it’s one of her solo parts to sing.

      • http://splashofinspiration.wordpress.com/ Shweta

Poor Luna, always shafted in the f(x) world. She needs screentime, like seriously. My perception of the song (which happens to be a couple comments below) is very much along the lines of yours.

    • Ambika

    • maldita

I liked it, but at the same time, I was underwhelmed.

    • butchick94

You’re definitely not the only one :)

  • Sarai Christina

I loved the clothes they had on and certain parts of the choreography, but I felt like I’ve seen the mv before. It was boring, and I wish they did something different, but what do you expect from SM. Not gonna change too soon.

  • shannie4888

A decent effort, but too typical and expected. So must for being indie and different…….I guess it’s back to normal.

  • waynecollections

The song is not as strong as I expected. Yes it’s catchy but it doesn’t have the same kind of vibe that is more likeable like Electric Shock and Hot Summer. You do get into it after listening to it more and more.

Visuals, yes it’s the same old box concept. The background drop is less exciting than Electric Summer. BUT, as usual, the members look amazing. I feel that Krystal totally dominated the MV. Some say it’s because of her hair but I feel like we see her most in this MV, even Sulli’s been overshadowed by her! I’m quite surprised though. Yes Krystal does look stunning in this but I thought they would promote Sulli more seeing as she is the visual and face of the group? Sulli looked really good in here too though.

  • Guest2

I don’t really expect much from SM in terms of MVs. It looks so bright and colorful, and the choreography is good, so I’m happy. The song is interesting, though, cause it has a lot of layers to it and it doesn’t sound too confusing. Question: does anyone else get a slight 70s feel from the song?

    • elle

Yes! I get that psychedelic/”The Beat Goes On” feel from it.

  • Jon

I’m glad it’s not like the art film, to be honest…. And like some others have noted, give the song another listen. It’s a solid song; don’t get hung up on the MV in a box. They could do much worse.

  • Giuliana Ribeiro Alfredo

I have to disagree with everybody… The mv is boring as hell, yes, but the song is pretty interesting. I even think I heard a little bit of Samba beats during 2:15-2:30 (any fellow brazilians agree with me?)

On the other hand, I’m kinda disappointed that we didn’t get the full version of the hipster video (and a little bit of Kai eye candy XD)

  • Jessica Cottle

The song grows on you after a few listens. Also, I love Luna with black hair!

  • itsmysunshine

Luna with black hair, not enough screen time. I feel like this MV is mostly Krystal. Oh and even Vic got so little screen time, sigh.

I feel that the song is pretty basic. And the dance, urgh the dance.. f(x) can do so much better than this.

    • Guest

i think luna looks really good with black hair.

      • itsmysunshine

I think the same too, but not enough screen time for her. I think my wording was a bit confusing lol.

  • cahier3

I like Amber’s rap and the PARUMPAPUMPUM in the beginning but……………….typical f(x). The MV is boring. The song is….I mean I’ll put it on my exercise playlist but beyond that…meh. F(x) deserves better.

  • Streby

It lacked the oomph that I usually find in f(x) songs, even the terrible ones (NU ABO, anyone?) had a certain f(x) factor as I’d like to call it. Its not a bad song, just not an f(x)-esque song.

  • VPython

The choreography is already a lot better than f(x)’s previous releases ES, Danger, HS…

And the song is growing on me .

  • http://twitter.com/#!/swheekun swheekun

Was never an f(x) fan so my impression is mostly just… boring and hella boring. I liked the bouncy guitar in the background and new vertical use of the matrix cam (!! who knew SM could think to do that) but as a whole there’s really nothing to distinguish this from nearly everything else they’ve released. Sigh.

  • Michelle Ahn

besides krystal everybody looks hot. i mean krystal’s hot but I’m just not a huge fan of the ronald mcdonald hair..
Also you can see most of their underwear or spandex or whatever throughout the video as their skirts are unnecessarily short especially considering the dance.
Also getting tired of Amber’s masculine look. If she liked it herself then fine that’s her choice, but in her free time you repeatedly see her making more of an effort to be society’s definition of “feminine” with the wigs and etc., and SM should not be pigeon holing her into one role.
I feel like that’s the general problem with f(x), they’re such an eclectic group that they really should be able to evolve past the k-pop “norms” and in the past, one could argue that they have a little bit. However, because their comebacks are so infrequent (also a good thing so they get rest), they hardly get the chance to evolve both their image and their sound. The company plays it safe in order to maximize the profits.
That’s not to say that f(x) hasn’t been able to experiment, obviously they have and they’ve been able to do a lot of projects that other k-pop groups havent but I hate to say that they aren’t really living up to their true potential.
They could do much bigger things. even in the world of k-pop.

    • destined2bebossy

      lol No.

  • happy_slip

I like this better than Electric Shock, for some reason. Luna’s looks way hotter with black hair honestly.

  • Doll On Dope

the guitar riff reminds me of “Cannonball” by The Breeders.
overall the song is catchy, coinciding with the lyrics is clever.
the music video…what else can I say SM…

  • http://thankgyuu.tumblr.com/ Mrs_KimSungGyu

This song is a grower. I wasn’t feeling it on the first two listens, but I kept playing the video and each time I noticed something new about the song. I’m not generally a fan of f(x)’s title tracks (or any tracks for that matter), but as strange as it may sound, this might be the first song of theirs that I genuinely like. Can’t wait for the album as well, some of the songs sounded really good.

  • http://blossom423.tumblr.com/ Elizabeth

I liked the song but the music video was so lackluster after releasing their art film i’m not really surprised.

  • Lianna

    I’m looking for Kai..

    • T.R.

      LOL! he’s not there.

  • rupdiddy

I don’t mind the song…but it sounds like there was no effort put into composing it. It also doesn’t help that I was overdosed with shots of Krystal & Sulli who had more singing lines than Luna, Amber & Vic (you can call me out for this, but I think Luna and Amber definitely have a lot more talent than Sulli, maybe even Krystal). It was like watching Krystal & the gang the whole time :( This isn’t what f(x) is supposed to be about. If I compare it to something like Pinocchio and Electric Shock…not a happy fan right now :(

  • pietel

I really like the song. For me it’s the most consistent f(x) song to date.
I have always the same feeling with f(x) singles: Great electro hooks and interesting composition but it just never feels completely right.
(except Electric Shock, that’s a perfect song, but it’s also generic and would’ve worked for other girl groups too, not necessarely f(x))
This song is original and layered, but it works as a whole and I like all the pieces it’s made off. I have deep respect for the song writer for being able to make this song fit together like it does, but it wouldn’t be possible for any other girl group.

As for the MV, I can’t complain when the girls are looking this good, especially Sulli.

  • elle

Frankly, I wasn’t expecting much from the mv because SM is not changing it’s box formula anytime soon. I’ve learned not to expect much from SM videos so as not to be too disappointed when an mv gets released.

Overall, I’m really loving the song. It’s got a psychedelic-70s music feel to it that I enjoy. It’s not flashy and the impact isn’t immediate, but it certainly grows on you. Personally, I think it’s one of their better title songs–it sounds clean but funky enough to be f(x)esque, and although I would have desired choreography that was more challenging, I can’t imagine any other girl group being able to pull it off and have it look clean and sharp.

  • almost_asian

I’m still waiting for the Electronica/Lana Del Rey-esque + KPop fusion promised to me. From the medley it seems like the rest of the album is worth looking forward to.
Again, like all SM songs, this one will grow on all of us at one time or another. I read one comment below which said that most of the singles are mediocre save for the B-sides which I agree with. The only kpop song I really bloody well enjoyed this year was EXO’s ‘Wolf’. There was something very anthem-like about it and each performance was anticipated, surprising for a rookie group that didn’t do well on the performance front. But in the entire XOXO album ‘Black Pearl’ was the gem and I’m guessing f(x) will have something similar. I loved Electric Shock but Beautiful Stranger was the most played song in my iTunes last year.
If there’s anything to really criticize —– THE PLAID. WHAT’S WITH ALL THE PLAID DID MYUNGSOO INVADE F(X)’S CLOSET OMFG.
    so that’s my opinion yeah.

    • 이영서

haha thumb up for your idea about Myungsoo’s invasion in f(x)’s closet but more precise, Myungsoo of the 3 years ago not Myungsoo of today as he’s obsessed with black these days :D

      • almost_asian

        ahahahah true true :p
KPop : Where a comment regarding f(x)’s comeback concludes with an observation about Myungsoo’s OCD.

  • Smile

I like the concept. Their new style is amazing. I like especially Luna’s and Sulli’s. But this MV and song are weak.

edit: oh and this MV was more like Krystal (and Sulli) feat. the rest. I get it Krystal is the face but SM don’t have to overdo it.

  • djsyix

the mv is about krystal and the girls ,, lol
like the music, but too many repetation
too bright mv, but like new camera technique
ps: i need more luna-victoria screentime

  • T.R.

No on that red hair. Looks a hot mess. But I do love this song alot! And I have a girl crush on Amber. <3

  • T.R.

Does SM know how to film mv outside that damn box? I mean, go outside in the fresh air or something and film a video. Do something different!

  • http://www.facebook.com/sonwabile.antonie Sonwabile Sony Antonie

To be people who are disappointed by this release, I have a brilliant suggestion. Please watch this MV while high. It makes a huge difference cos somehow a lackluster release becomes a magical video clip full of colour and wonder

  • Flick Addi

I really love the song especially the canon they do in the pre chorus. But as usual bland MV from SM
