Girl’s Day recently returned to the scene with “Expectation,” marking a stunning transformation. Abandoning the niche, over-the-top aegyo image they’ve crafted over the years, the girls were decked out in stunning propellers, chest-hugging tops, and eye-catching short shorts for the song’s bedazzling MV. Accompanying arguably the sexiest MV of the year so far is a choreography which features very sexually explicit dance moves. Don’t know what I’m talking about? No worries though. The girls showcase each one of these moves step by step in their Let’s Dance segment on LOEN”s YouTube channel.

Wow. The given names for the dances immediately tip off their sensual nature: “Femme Fatale,” “Suspender Dance,” and “Splash Dance.”  Given the way Sojin and Minah are giggling and blushing over the name of the third dance, I feel that there is certainly some subtext that is being left out in the English translation.

There are certain moments that feel eerily similar to pornography. Maybe it’s the fact that there are half-naked girls spreading their legs and rubbing their breasts on camera. Maybe it’s because the camera keeps zooming in every time there is an explicit move being performed. Or maybe it’s due to the fact that most of it was shot from the soft-core porn angle – camera low to the ground, giving the audience a fine glance at the girls’ legs and thighs.

Let’s call it for what it is. These Let’s Dance segments aren’t here to teach us to dance. If that were the case, they would go over each step multiple times so we can actually learn it. It’s just another plug for companies to show off their idols and to try to get us addicted to a group’s raunchy hooks and sassy choreography. What are your thoughts on these “dance tutorials” and Girl’s Day’s new and unimproved look?
