Thankfully, I haven’t had to endure too much of the Olympic coverage by NBC. When I’ve changed the channel, there was almost always an event going on with little interruption.

There have been some tasty moments for the US so far. The women’s volleyball team is rolling. Gabby Douglas kicked serious ass. Michael Phelps finally started looking like Michael Phelps. To put the cherry on the sundae, the US basketball team continues to rumble like a juggernaut.

Also, we’re about to go onto our almost month-long trend of 100+ degree weather in the heartland. I pray for autumn to finally get here.

Michael Phelps is the man 22 medals in total and 18 being gold is just amazing he is the only reason i started watching the olympics

Ugh, do not talk about NBC’s coverage of the Olympics. Its absolutely ridiculous. Everything is prejudice and narrow-minded and the commentators have one-track minds. NBC doesn’t seem to know that America isn’t the only country competing and that maybe other people might be interested in other countries.

And their lack of covering the controversies or taking the controversies and making them out in a negative light is frustrating to say the least. (ie. Shin A Lam, Ye Shiwen, Cho Jun-ho, Sun Yang) Their treatment of news is hypocritical as well.

And if you were watching the live coverage, only recently did NBC start to fawn over Gabby Douglas. She was doing great pretty much the entire time and only when she won the all-around did they start to care.

they did cover Jamaican athletes i like them more than the American ones  it is the only country i saw beside America lol i don’t care about NBC anymore i just watch it online

I actually just stream the Olympics live via BBC or CTV, and only watch NBC primetime if there are particular great moments (U.S slaying it in the pool, cool trampoline routines, women gymnastics). I’ve gotten over how awful the coverage is so I’m not even complaining anymore.

There are a lot of good dramas (or so it seems from the premise and teasers), but I’m moving into my dorm in a couple of days!!! mmeeehhhh. I never ever ever watch dramas during the school year because it’s too distracting, but I do keep up with drama news, so I’ll know which one to watch during my breaks that will be worth my time.

too many controversies this year in the olympics…was there this many last olympics?

    • http://twitter.com/rentrule12 ana

there were controversies last olympic remember (michael versus cavic)  (chinese gymnast age) but not as much i think 80s and the 90s had way more i remember reading people kept losing there medal alot cause of doping i think a cyclist this year was kick out for testing positive

there is no such thing as a drama free Olympics

for some reason I find it funny they call it doping.., would the proper term be doing drugs? or something around that?

        • straighttohelvetica

I think they want to differentiate between an athlete doing drugs for recreational purposes (like Phelps and the pot photo) and doing drugs to boost their performance (which can cost them medals, bring outcomes of races/events into question, get them banned from the sport, etc.). Phelps getting busted for smoking pot went down easier for him than if he’d gotten caught doping.

I just watch the olympics live online when I can and watch the ones I missed on tv. Loving the dominance of Cal alumni in the pool as part of Team USA (go dana vollmer, nathan adrian, jessica hardy, caitlyn leverenz, rachel bootsma, and natalie coughlin!). Go Bears! Amazed at the young talent on Team USA as well. Glad Michael Phelps ended on a great note after a slow start, 6 medals after only about a year of training, not bad, not bad at all, wonder what he will do next now that he retired.

Man I haven’t watched a kdrama in over a month, I am excited for Arang and the magistrate ( lee junki! welcome back!) and five fingers ( joo ji hoon come back to my tv!). Happy to see joongki get the lead but not sure if i will have time for nice guy. Not watching to beautiful you, too tired of the story already, plus minho is rediculously bad as an actor.

Can’t complain about the weather here, breezy and 75 with only a cople humid days earlier in the week, yeah no complaints here.

Ugh, I hate NBC’s coverage of the Olympics. It’s ridiculously biased, much more so then when I listen to BBC’s… :/

Although, love the gymnastics. I was kinda rooting for Viktoria Komova, though, instead of Gabby Douglass… What can I say, I just really love the Russian gymnastics style. >.<
