Ever needed a moment of motivation? I’m not talking about the sentimental type that pierces the heart, but the type that gears you for success–whether it’s trying to talk to your crush, knocking out the competition, or prepping to go out. Sometimes we really need to build confidence up instead of beating ourselves down or giving up.

Personally, I like to listen to upbeat, confident songs to get into the swing of things. So I thought to myself, “why not share this awesomeness with the Seoulbeats community?” If you’re thinking this will be a guy’s perspective only article, think again because included are also songs the ladies can appreciate as well. Here is a playlist that is not humble by any means–rather this is a playlist that is full of self confidence, self-loving, and self-praising.

    • Rain, “Rainism”
      • I had a hard time picking just one song by Rain because he’s one cocky guy. Who else has multiple songs with his name in it? His title tracks scream of self confidence that can be seen as cocky, but cocky is what Rain does best.  Rain isn’t known for his more humble songs, which aren’t by any means bad songs– it’s just that he’s not known to be that kind of singer. Out of all the songs that I could have picked, I ultimately decided to go with “Rainism” because i felt it was the cockiest one, but “It’s Raining” and “I’m Coming” were also obvious nominees in this playlist. Why is this song so cocky? Does it have a song title named after yourself? Check. Does it have lyrics like “I make it rainism, the rainism. Now you completely fell in?” Check. Does it have sexy dance moves that make girls swoon, and guys want to learn them? Check. If you don’t believe me then see for yourself.

  • DBSK, “Mirotic”
Let’s be serious here, the lyrics in “Mirotic” were absolutely true. Just the introduction beats alone had most, if not all, of the Cassies in the world falling hard for DBSK. Lets just say the fangirls ate that up, and this showed that DBSK knew that the fangirls were loving it. This promotion was coincidentally when they went through a no-shirt-under-my-blazer phase (especially Jaejoong and Yunho), so as to make sure there were not going to be any survivors left this time around. Really, what Cassie fangirl did not fall for them?

  • T.O.P, “Turn It Up”
So if I ever wanted to be any dude in the K-pop world, T.O.P would be that guy. He oozes charisma, and doesn’t even have to try to be cool. He just is the definition of cool, and regardless of what horrible things his hair stylist does to him, he still manages to make it work. I even accept the toothpaste color hair now, but on to the song:  “Turn it Up Now” was the first T.O.P solo song that I listened to, but he isn’t going to let humbleness get in the way of the song. Straight off the bat he says “This is a message to seduce you.” So the question at hand is, “did it work?”

  • After School, “Bang
  • BoA, “Girls on Top”
I give BoA slow claps for this song. This is one kick ass song that is the perfect Girl Power Anthem (minus the unnecessary rap part in the song). The song content itself is about how girls should be themselves and not be afraid to be confident. The dance and overall style only further prove how bad ass this song is. At one point of the choreography she actually gets on top of a back-up dancer: how isn’t that “Girls on Top?”

  • Lee Hyori, “10 Minutes”
Lee Hyori has been loved and adored by single and married men since her debut in Fin.K.L. Even when she was in Fin.K.L, Lee Hyori was sexy.  But when she went solo, she debuted with a bang! “10 Minutes” was nothing less than a jaw dropper. Here Hyori comes in looking all sexy and isn’t afraid to be honest. If you’re looking to be in a steady relationship with a guy (or a girl, for that matter), then avoid Hyori at all times because in this song she claims to take whatever she wants in “just one ten minute.” Not only is she telling you that you will be hers within 10 minutes, but also she tells you not to compare her to others. She’s basically saying that she’s out of everyone’s league. With that kind of ego, you definitely need to back that ego up, but Hyori, or Ms. Lee if you’re nasty, can back that up and then some.

  • 2NE1, “I Am the Best”
The absolute first thing that came to mind when making this playlist was this song. “I Am the Best” channels what this playlist is about. Just the title itself is cocky, and you know it. I might be over generalizing it, but who hasn’t sang the words “내가 제일 잘나가” because I know for a fact that I am guilty of singing this over and over again.
