#plasticmaknae: Taemin has a new nose; fans are unhappy. Discuss.

141

Let’s face it: plastic surgery is K-pop’s worst kept secret. Everyone gets it, no one admits to it, and ultimately, the only people who address the plastic surgery thing at face value are the fans – but only when they’re not busy defending themselves from the other fans who inevitably rush to counter any allegations that their favorite idols might not be 100 percent natural.

SNSD‘s Sooyoung attracted a bit of attention after she emerged last fall with a pointier chin and half her jawbone shaved off. Personally, I was a bit shocked – Sooyoung’s my favorite SNSD member and I thought she was already drop-dead gorgeous with her fuller jawline – but the rest of the K-pop world seemed to shrug it off on the reasoning that it was SNSD, and SNSD just isn’t SNSD without a few dips under the scalpel every now and then.

So imagine my surprise when news arose of Taemin and his new nose. The seventeen-year old SHINee member has recently garnered attention for being the new “face” of SHINee’s upcoming Japanese activities – but who knew that being the new face of SHINee entailed him getting a new face of his own, as well?

I’m exaggerating, of course – in fact, only a few eagle-eyed fans initially spotted the slight difference in the structure of Taemin’s nose, and compiled photo collages like the one below comparing Old Taemin-Nose with New Taemin-Nose.

The difference is fairly slight, but you’ll notice that there was a small hook at the end of Old Taemin-nose. That hook is now gone with New Taemin-Nose, and the nasal septum now appears to be a bit lower on his face. Fans suspect that Taemin had the procedure done sometime between May 22nd and 26th, and seeing as he was still out and about between those times, many suspect that it was probably a quick fifteen minute thing done in a chair with a needle and very little fuss. Keepin’ on with the SM tradition of ruthless efficiency, I see. Good job.

To be honest, Taemin’s new nose itself isn’t really a huge deal – you have to really squint to see the differences between the two noses. And yet, these plastic surgery ‘rumors’ caused legions of fans to bare their claws in attempts to ‘protect’ Taemin from the evil, evil people who dared to simply point out the obvious. Opinions ranged from flat-out denial that Taemin had any work done at all, to SM secretly coercing Taemin to have the procedure, to theories that Taemin and Minho are now an official couple because of their matching fake noses.

Plastic surgery would seem like a hot topic in the Seoulbeats Universe where sane discussions about controversial K-pop and K-culture issues are welcomed. But in reality, the whole idea of plastic surgery in K-pop can be a rather uncomfortable subject simply because we, as spectators of K-pop, don’t really know what goes on behind the walls of the K-pop industry, much less what goes on in the minds and hearts of each K-celebrity as they decide whether or not to get plastic surgery. Ultimately, it’s not fair for us as a relatively uninformed audience to automatically assume that entertainment companies are forcing their artists to get plastic surgery, or that K-pop stars are all so obsessed with appearances that plastic surgery is their automatic go-to in order to feel better about themselves.

But it’s also not to say that the subject of plastic surgery should be completely closed off to discussion, either. This latest incident with Taemin’s new nose serves as a launching point for a whole bunch of questions in regards to plastic surgery amongst K-celebs. For one, is a seventeen year-old too young for plastic surgery? Does this say something about teenagers in the industry, and how their ways of thinking are affected by their environment? Do celebrities in big entertainment companies get procedures done because they feel that insecure about their appearances, or does the fact that they’re being financially supported by a large company give celebrities a “oh, why not?” outlook about cosmetic procedures? On the flip side, plastic surgery is considered a norm for Korean society on the whole, celeb or not. Do we, as a foreign audience, tend to pin plastic surgery on celeb culture simply because celebrities are more publicly visible, when in fact plastic surgery is just as commonplace outside of celebrity circles?

Or are you like me, who really couldn’t care less about idols getting work done as long as it looks good in the end? Personally, I think Taemin’s new nose looks fantastic from the side, but the frontal view still looks a bit funky to me (as seen in the first few frames of SHINee’s Japanese “Replay” video). But hey – if he likes it, then what’s the issue?

My only issue about this is the psychological implications of plastic surgery. No, it’s not something that requires a lot of thinking and decision-making and dealing with personal consequences like say, abortion, but I believe it still affects the mental well-being of a person. Heck, even a simple haircut can signal a change in a person’s life. It can mean stress and lack of control, and chopping the hair off is a way of dealing with that.

I have no problem with people getting plastic surgery as long as it’s not done to the extremes. If they have a big nose with a ‘hook’, and people call them witch-like or looking like a hag and tease them for it, I can see why that would cause some problems for their self-esteem and getting it done may make them feel better about themselves. It’s like having terrible acne in high school and being afraid to put your hair up because you’re so afraid people will see your imperfect skin and mock you, and then discovering Proactive, and suddenly you have a newfound confidence and happiness. Or finding out that cosmetic treatments can make your skin glow. No big deal.

But a 17-year old who didn’t really have a lot of physical flaws to begin with? The hook on his nose wasn’t even that noticeable! What inspired Taemin to do this? What led him to look at himself in the mirror and say, “OMG I hate the *very, very, very slight* hook on my nose. I need to get rid of it.” Has he always thought of his nose as something that needed improvement? Was he just waiting until he is a bit older to get this done? If that was the case, I just fail to understand how a 17-year old COULD HAVE been thinking of plastic surgery for a couple of years now. That’s just…NO. Imagine a 13 year old having body image issues. It’s so, so sad. Puberty is a b*tch, we’ve all had issues to deal with at that phase, but most of us come out of it okay. Some express, “I hate my eyes.” but not enough to go out and get surgery. Or maybe there’s just not enough money?

And here’s where the company influence comes in: I doubt these entertainment companies tell their idols, “Be who you are, love yourself”. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be seeing them undergoing so many changes from the roots of their hair that are dyed every month, to their bottle-bleached feet. Everything is about image. Every idol out there has lost weight, has bleached their skin to look paler, has dyed their hair, has gotten several plastic surgeries, etc…again, it’s not really a big deal. The problem is, these idols get it done younger and younger.

I just have this image of idols being scouted by companies for their “potential”, taking photos and studying them, calling the idols, and saying, “We’d take you in as a trainee, but as soon as you turn 16, you have to get (list here) done.”

It’s no problem if they get it done when they’re 25 and the changes are gradual that you don’t even notice it until you see their pictures from 10 years ago and think, “Wow, she changed so much.” But with idols, many of them haven’t been in the spotlight for 5 years, and many of them have already had things done to their faces. Many of them are under 25 years old, too. The pressure to appear perfect must have started very young, when these idols were scouted at age 11-13. And THAT, is messed up.

The fans and netizens have a big role in this, too. As image is important, idols must read what people say about them and get deeply affected, that it’s no wonder some of them go to the extreme, like Yuri of SNSD, and say “I am doing this for my fans”. Again, the psychological implication of this: idols go so far in their quest to look perfect for their fans, the people they don’t even know but the ones “paying” for their lifestyles. It’s ridiculous, it’s scary, and it’s dangerous. They’re not doing the surgeries to make themselves happy. They’re doing it to make strangers happy. They do it to please other people. Try wrapping your head around that notion.

When is enough, enough? Have they not seen what Solbi has done to her face and her career because of the surgeries? And even after all that she still looks miserable and sad.

I wonder if these idols ever miss the way they used to look? Or have they been so influenced by the environment, culture, and their companies that the only way they can think they’ll look better is to get more surgeries done?

And you’re proud of it because…?

    • Nicole

I read the whole comment a few times.
I honestly don’t understand what would make Taemin get plastic surgery. It doesn’t bother me, because it really isn’t noticeable. But his nose was perfectly fine before.
Going through puberty isn’t easy, and I do spot flaws in myself all the time, but I don’t think I would ever go this far.
Especially because of a so called “hook” on the tip of my nose.

      • clamsauce

taemin is seriously gorgeous and i don’t think i quite understand why he had to get surgery in the first place. I mean the kid isn’t even fully grown yet!!
that would be supposed second time shinee has had nose work done…wow.

i knew taemin looked different, but now i really see it. this is kinda crazy…

Agreed agreed agreed. It’s like how IU has stated in several interviews that she wants to fix up her nose because it’s too low and short, and she’s been saying this as early as around her debut time. It just saddens me so much because she’s so pretty and there’s no need to fix anything on her face and she’s only friggin 18.

Wonder what their parents think about this? Are they happy for their kids? Are they disappointed?

If I were a parent of one of these idols, I’d think, “My genes are not good enough for my child.” I mean, you get your looks from your parents naturally, right? So if you’re a parent and your child tells you, “I hate the nose you gave me. I want plastic surgery.” Wouldn’t you feel offended and hurt?

It would be interesting to have the kids of these idols 20 years later ask their parents, “Mom/Dad, how come my nose doesn’t look like yours?”, “How come my skin isn’t white as yours?”, “How come my eyes aren’t big as yours?” and the idols, who may be parents by then, how would they answer?

“Don’t worry, I’ve already planned your gift for your 16th birthday”.

    • eboy07

      OK this comment whas funny.

      • Mina

        agreed :p

        • EVIL^_^

FUNNY BUT TRUE…^_^(REALLY MAD NOW)HEH!!I THINK U DOESNT GRATEFUL TO HAVE PARENT RIGHT?IF U THINK LIKE THAT THEN PLS TELL ME SO THAT I CAN KILL UR PARENT!!USELESS CHILD!!

    • olivia

Th Kids wouldn’t ask questions like that, they probably already know about plastic surgery from all the harsh comments their parents make on their appearance. “Your nose it too flat, your eyes are too small, your jaw is too wide, your face is the size of a pot…Don’t worry if you do well on your exams, we’ll pay for you to get it fixed.”

And also, just so you know the age of plastic surgery doesn’t have to be 16. My sister’s Korean friend returned from Korea with his double eyelids done. He was 12. All you need it parent consent.

      • mischa

That’s messed up. I can’t believe some parents would just let their kids screw with their faces from that young age. The parents must have some role in their kid’s thinking he had to get plastic surgery.

    • TSLuna

i wonder what their parents think of them even working in the industry in general o.O isnt taemin’s contract like 13 years?

  • joe

I liked the hook, gave him character. Same with Lee Minho’s (from BOF)nose. Korea’s apparently the world’s highest for facial cosmetic surgery now. http://www.asianplasticsurgeryguide.com/news10-2/081003_south-korea-highest.html
Wonder how many kpop fanatics are going to step in quote the International society of Aesthetics Plastic surgery (of which only 11 clinics in Korea are registered with) and try to point the finger at Japan/Hong Kong/Taiwan. Sorry. Korea’s got the highest rates.

  • DD

I think that most of the time companies tend to “strongly suggest” their artists to get plastic surgery. My friend is training in Korea now and the company he’s with is forcing him to do plastic surgery on his face even though he already looks handsome and some of those flaws they’re trying to eliminate are so trivial. He didn’t want to do it probably, but he isn’t too bothered if he has to.

  • hannah

great, another Korean people can not longer quote to prove Korea doesn’t have way too much plastic surgery.

    • ZGL

Not every korean goes for plastic surgery my dear. There are many, yes I agree but some are minor not drastic and its person not people.

  • LoL

i personally don’t have any problems with plastic surgery whatsoever. if i was a celebrity and my company offered me to get something done for free. i’d probably get something done too. let’s face it, no matter how pretty a celebrity is, there will still be shitloads of people criticizing their looks, and their human too, they’re bound to feel insecure.

  • -

Ah, I thought he looked a bit different in the “Replay” MV, but I pinned it on his new hair color instead. From the photos, I can see a clear change, and those who say otherwise are in denial.

Yes, looks aren’t everything; I’m sure the kid still has a great personality. But he felt he needed to get it in the first place? His company “forced” or “strongly suggested” him to and he did it? That bothers me. I don’t support plastic surgery unless it’s for health reasons. If you’re happy with yourself, you don’t need to change shit. Plastic surgery is irreversible. Why do you have to use it to feel good about yourself? People criticize looks regardless of whether you had it or not. I don’t see how you reduce this problem via surgery.

If he’s happy now with this change, that means he wasn’t happy with the way he looked naturally. Or maybe he doesn’t give a damn, I dunno. If he wanted it, he got it. The industry-life and Korean culture in general is what’s desensitizing the idea of plastic surgery among the younger generation, I think.

And on a completely different note, but one that I’ve been meaning to ask for a while: Is there any way to deal with the shitload of spammers you have on this website? Just… holy crap. There are a lot.

            Opps. My bad =D

          • eboy07

Im also getting irked by the spammers.

    • morgen

He didn’t have his new nose during the Mv shooting ;)

      • -

Ah, my bad. I just thought so from this part of the article: “Personally, I think Taemin’s new nose looks fantastic from the side, but the frontal view still looks a bit funky to me (as seen in the first few frames of SHINee’s Japanese “Replay” video).”

Good to know otherwise, though. Thanks!

        • morgen

You’re welcome, he probably got the injections between the 22 and the 26 when they came back from Japan, they had a few days without schedules (at least Taemin). They shot the MV in late April or early May, I don’t remember well.

    • Flick

      I completely agree with you!

  • fangirl.

since its basically a requirement for kpop idols to be aesthetically pleasing, i think its completely normal for these idols to have anxieties about how they look. the only thing that makes this issue more serious than it really is, is the fact that plastic surgery is a ‘norm’ over there. so instead of overcoming their complexes with the help of their psychological immune system, they can just make an appointment and then -tada- complex no more.

  • ayo

I was a little sad when I heard about Taemin’s new nose, his old hook nose was just so cute. It was one of his many charms, but I guess I’m okay with his new nose.
One thing that just bugs me is to why he got it.
Was he insecure? Did someone persuade him?
He is so gorgeous and beautiful and just to think that someone as precious as he is to look at his nose and find it so ugly that had to fix it permanently.

It looks nice though, I guess, I’m just a regular creepy fan girl looking way into things and being depressed ’cause of their bias. /sigh augh Taemin.

  • JW

As long as it makes him happy!!!
Although the front does look kind of odd in Jap. “replay”
Plus the new haircut, it’s like he’s got the whole thing redone :P

  • kc

I wouldn’t jump to plastic surgery right away, Taemin’s still growing and looks as though he’d been working out a bit (You can see by his neck, much thicker) and it almost looks like he’s lost his baby fat.
try comparing your highschool photos, generally they don’t take a side ways view but you’ll see over time that there is a gradual change to your face.
as for the hook in his nose, well, I’d have to see better photos to make a decision, the tiniest of angle shifts can make you look different…
but really, even if he did get it, does it make him any different? Plastic surgery in Asia in general is huge, whether it’s double eye surgery or nose it’s something that isn’t as uncommon as in other places mostly because the culture is different…
who wouldn’t change something of them selves if they could?… well it matters the person I guess, we all have some complex against our selves that we don’t like- “oh, I wish I were thinner” “I wish I were fuller” “I wish my nose was different” we all have something we wanna change and I think if alot of us had the money we would change that.
it’s a matter of maturity I guess, we’re so obsessed with perfection that we can’t be satisfied with what we have.

  • C

3rd pic at the top is how I feel (frown, boo). Natural looked really really good on little Tae.

    Stop it SM just stop.

I wish people at other forums would stop saying upgrade to his “fixed” nose. The real one was perfect, this one looks so…blah artificially generic.

  • yack

If SM made Taemin do this then I wonder how their young trainees would feel.

  • pammiej85

I think it’s simple to say that we shouldn’t judge people for their decisions but this is the real world and public scrutiny comes with the territory. People judge people.

My problem is definitely from the psychological view point (I have a minor degree in this area) so I can’t help but think about the mental state a person is in when they decide that they want to change their face. And people saying “as long as it makes him happy” really should reserve that unless we first know whether he will a) stop there or do like Sobi and continue changing his face because he’s really unhappy with his looks and b) figure out if it was really his decision to do this procedure in the first place.

I’m reminded of the singer Younha who was turned down by SME about 2-3 times because they said that she needed plastic surgery. She decided not to do it and went to another company. But even after she debuted Koreans assumed that she got something done and she had to lie about having PS. Isn’t that a bit keen?

  • Kim

It’s just an injection in the tip of his nose…
    It’s temporarily!.

  • sunaoteam

i like him with whatever nose he has. guess i would like him even if he didn’t have nose at all. but hey plastic surgery is everything today. when you cut out your finger, who’ll put it back? plastic surger. it’s the same for heechul. sure he has plastic surgery or should he rather run around with scar on half of his face? it’s not like plastic surgery is only about “i wanna look better so i’ll have this and that done” in short i totally don’t mind them having plastic as long as it looks natural and isn’t like american celebs who looks like all-plastic dolls…

sorry if you feel offended by my opinion but i really don’t care..

the issue is, when 17 is an ok age to do cosmetic enhancement (since no plastic or surgery is involved), it’s just a matter of time when the age limit just got younger. charice who did glee went for botox at tender age of 18 and we only hear ppl doing botox mostly in middle age or more. so, it’s odd to think why a teen would actually want to inject something onto her face to make her face look smaller for the screen, one thing can only come to mind; insecurity.

i’m sure in korea, some parents are sending their kids to do the double eyelid at much younger age thus it’d seem acceptable to continue with the rest of the face or body as they grow up. but where’s the limit? i mean, cosmetic enhancement and surgery doesnt ensure the next line to look like them, so, they’ll keep on enhancing and enhancing till dooms day.

wonderful society we are living in, that the person sitting next to us can be enhance in any ways..but nobody talks bout personality enhancement. wonder why’s that?

  • kimmi

we all know almost every korean star out there got something done (no surprise) but why is it such a big deal? it isn’t that big of a deal here in america (unless u take it to a new level like heidi for one example) and i think if the Kstars would just be honest, all of them, then it will no longer be a big deal. I say go for it if YOU want it, not bc someone says to do or for any other reason! do it bc YOU want to, period. i wouldnt do it to myself bc im happy with everything, but if in the future something pops up and make me feel down, n i had the $ and resource, yea why not? as long as i dont go CRAZY! and do it if it mean i will b happy, ill do it. People seriously take things to SERIOUS. Shut up and judge base on their talent not their looks, bc then u be the one looking shallow.

  • sayori

Why did they do that…… seriously why…??
I still really love Taemin, of course, but his nose was this only tiny unperfection on him that I loved so much… it was unique and characteristic and… I just can’t believe this… it makes me so sad and… I don’t know why this is such a big deal for me, but I just LOVED his nose and… the new one is so straight and.. it’s simply not TAEMIN’s nose… his old one made him perfect to me… now he’s… *allusion to Suju M’s song* too perfect.

    • michelleluu

I’m sorry but as another fan out there who loveees Taemin with all her heart I can’t agree with you.
To me and I’m sure to Taemin as well, there is no such thing as too perfect. No one is perfect and if someone is then why complain? Everyone has their own ideals and i think we should all respect eachothers’ ideal. As a Taemin fan i don’t believe in questioning why he had nose job. It was his decision and if it makes him feel better about himself I am so happy for him. ^^
I know i would want people to feel this way for me because i am 17 and planning on getting a nose job in the future but all my friends as like “why? your nose is pretty!” i know it’s not ugly but i always look for improvement. 8D

    • Evelyn::

I agree with you. I think having unique characteristic is more important than seeking perfection through plastic surgery. I still like him but I miss his natural nose.

  • nana

I still find that boy breathtaking and utterly gorgeous with or without the new nose.

I’m not going to lie, I’m still going to wonder..

    ‘Why?’

    But I really don’t care.

As long as hes blessing us with his presence, I’m completely happy.

And.. if it was SM’s decision to make it straighter… Then.. I really don’t see why they would want to. But oh well, They did.

If it was Taemin’s decision; It is what it is.

    I’ll always love him. ♥

  • pinkpanda

    okay and ??

People who are against Taemin’s new nose, rejoice! The hook is very much back! Go see Key and Taemin’s performance of “My First Kiss” in Taiwan. its very obviously there.
I think this was either all a crazy hype or the nose injection “expired” and his nose returned…

  • Thisistoomuch

    I don’t get it,that’s not really a surgery.
I am sure he didn’t go near a knife.

Looking at that minimal change, I can see that he had needle surgery. It like having botox injection. what is this fuss about?

It is ultimately up to teamin to decised. He is not like us. He is in entertinement industry where appearences are much more important than you think.

  • http://airanimechiic.blogspot.com TSLuna

    REJOICE PEOPLEZ
The hook on taemin’s nose is BACK. Go watch Key’s “My First Kiss” ft Taemin (in drag) in their Taipei Shinee 1st Concert. His hook is very very visible in that performance.
(i think what probably happened is he got an injection and then it expired?)

  • LEMon44

First of all, don’t panic people, if he did get it, it’s just a REALLY small thing: seriously, I NEVER noticed anything different about him. Secondly, a nose can change through time, no doubt in my mind because my cousin had the BIGGEST arc I’ve ever seen in my life when she was around 13 and came back a stick from Pakistan, but as time passed (and her body started changing), she was still really thin (and still is) and the arc COMPLETELY WENT AWAY. No lie. Her nose looks as though she did get surgery, but her nose started changing when she was 15 and little by little, the arc had completely disappeared. I honestly don’t believe this rumor for the fact that, if you see pictures from when her first debuted and later on (Juliet, Ring Ding Dong, JoJo, Lucifer, and Japanese debut) all in a row, you can kinda tell that his nose did change as time passed, and since there was a nine month hiatus that SHINee was in between Ring Ding Dong and Lucifer, the nose changed a bit, but not too much. Plus, count the time between Lucifer and their Japanese debut–his nose still looks really similar and it looks like he’s gained weight–AND if you look at his Taipei pics, look carefully and you’ll notice that it’s still there! I’m just saying. I don’t believe them, and even if they were true, that doesn’t change the fact that he’s an AMAZING singer and an AMAZING dancer–his looks don’t matter as long as he’s good at what he does, and as I’ve stated before, HE’S AMAZING AT IT ALL!! So calm down. TSLuna, I noticed that too! People just take things out of proportion–and people need to remember that when his nose look really different, his body seemed to have changed and he seemed to have gained weight–now he’s back to his normal stick-ness (which I actually still find appealing–don’t get me wrong, he still is cute with more weight on him, but I go for the skinnies for some reason! lol! XD) My point proven (p.s. this was written a few days ago but forgot to put it up.)

Hey guys. I doubt it’s puberty. I looked into this a bit and I looked at some Taemin fancam youtube profiles where they upload videos of Taemin either the day or the day after it was recorded. Before May 22 (2011), Taemin’s nose looked like his old nose. After May 23 (2011), his nose looked very different. Puberty can’t happen so quickly in one day. Neither can a surgery. So I’m thinking he got that injection that makes a person’s nose pointier. If you want proof, look up the fancams on youtube. My opinion about all this is that it’s Taemin’s body he can do as he wishes. I, however, have lost some respect for him. I’m still a fan, but I will no longer admire him for his beauty. Even though it’s just an injection in his nose, he’s only 99% real now.

  • shineemax

I still love Taemin and support him in whatever he does because I’m a true SHAWOL!!

  • Kayden

I’m surprised this happened (or not happened) I have the same slight hook in my nose, and I would always point out to myself, his looks are important, he looks confident, so I can be confident too. I was thinking about surgery or actually an injection (surgery isn’t needed) but watching fancams and stuff and see him would stop me from thinking about it. This confused me. But I’m not going to judge. I want people to decide what they do in life. Even though some things dissappoint me, if you stop being fan because of a surgery, It didn’t mean that much to you to be a fan in the first place.

  • ashley

well you gotta remember sm ent basically controls everything. if they want you to have surgery you gotta do it….and i guess since taemin is pretty obedient (and they prob didnt want to hurt his fans..cuz he has lots of fans) he just went with it. im not upset bout it im just sayin thats probably what happened.

  • krizzynana

why do people overeact when they hear celebrity get plastic sugerey?? every celebrity do these days. in fact everyone do these days. i don’t because i think it not safe but if they get it done then it’s done you can do nothing bout it. it their body not your’s. as long as they really sing and not mix their horrible vioce to make it sound good it fine to me for them to get whatever they need to be pretty or handsome.

  • Veronica

Quite disappointed after you pointing that out really. I’ve always liked Taemin because he is naturally good looking, but now he’s undergone surgery too… He was totally fine before, you know? Even though he didn’t have such smooth nose line, but no one’s perfect.

i agree with you,but for me i always liked his nose because it was different from the others and wasn’t ugly at all!  but now it’s just like everybody else .. i still love him though

If they really did plastic surgery and became more prettier or more handsome that means thay are brave and they have the guts to do! and they can find a perfect doctor for them self! whats the problem with plastic surgery!?

I don’t see why everyone is being so bitchy about it. Hello, wake up, You precious baby is grown up. He’s a star. He’s still amazing. He can still dance and sing. It’s his life. Don’t go into denial. Give it up. We don’t know what really happened. Whether he was told to get this done or he wanted to, we won’t know. So whats so wrong with it? Imagine what a famous star must have to to through to keep their fans happy. You can’t please everyone. Who knows, maybe it’ll even help him sing better. What, you think that he’s not imperfect because he’s not natural? Everyone has something they want to change.

So, like a good fan, I love you Taemin <3

I don’t give a damn if he did a nose job or not, I see no difference.
The person who made up the name: plastic maknae betta run cuz I’m coming and I have a brick. I’LL HUNT YOU DOWN WHOEVER YOU ARE!!!
and since I don’t see a differnece I must be blind or the rumors are untrue^^

  • azyan22

    no difference,no comment………….

  • Summer

i dont see the big deal….. he had a tiny thing done to his nose and everyone goes insane…. it isnt “generic” or “artificial” it looks normal and if i hadnt come across this site i never would have even known… come on people you act like he went from giant nose to midget nose or something! either way he’s still fine as ever and a great dancer sooo yeh calm down… his nose changes and people freak out or “lose” respect for him… you never gave him any if you can lose it like that… you can’t say stuff like “its fake” or “i’ve lost respect for him” “or i just dont love him anymore” because of a tiny change >.> you wouldn’t say that to your mom if she got a tiny change to her nose would you?  …yeh thats right you wouldnt so why freak out over his???

  • Kaylastar4eva

Oh my god who cares people….You act as if redid his whole face…..I bet hes maturing…..Like come on people think a little!

  • Anonymous

Seriously? why make a big fuss over smth small LOL. he is born to be pretty, it doesnt make any difference anyway

  • Taemin-fan

I don’t care if they look good in the end or not, I admit I do love Taemin because he’s attractive so I’m not some saint saying I don’t care about looks, but he was just fine before. He didn’t really need that to be done.
That being said, if it’s his choice the whatever. We all have something we’d like to change about ourselves, and if that was Taemin’s decision then who cares? It’s his body, he’ll do as he pleases.
However, if it was SM then I’m not exactly pissed, but that does anger me. Like I said, he’s fine the way he is. Change really isn’t needed.

This really upsets me. I know there’s not really a huge difference (if he DID get plastic surgery), and everyone has something they would change, but he was absolutely gorgeous with his nose before. He doesn’t need plastic surgery, and it’s sad that anyone would think that. I hope that this isn’t true, and that he doesn’t get plastic surgery done in the future. <33

well, since lots of girls/guys in korea get plastic surgery before they’re taemin’s age… i’d assume it’d be okay. after all, a LOT of people have done nose jobs and double eyelids and elongating(?) their eye length (?) … awkward, but true. To make their eyes seem bigger, Either way, it’s his own choice… who am I to stop him?

but i do think he was fine as he was. I guess it looks prettier, more dainty now? o_O;; if that’s a good thing for a guy of his age, haha. XD

Honestly, it just looked like a little bit of a filler (Particularly, this is no where, near the knife kind of stuff). Which is why probably most people don’t notice it. It’s nothing major, they just insert some silicon or something (Don’t quote me, it’s off my memory). It’s really quick and done in a few minutes. I watched a video of a famous blogger get her’s done, and honestly, it’s just a tiny bit red and she had a little dot where they inserted the needle.

It’s nothing major. I don’t know why people are getting their dear little panties in a twist. Taemin is just as beautiful and adorable as he was before. And if this makes him feel just a little bit better about himself, good for him. :) i’ll support him all the way. And there’s no surprised why our idols get these things done! Imagine all those anti’s out there, dissing your every detail, you can’t help but feel a bit self conscious. But in retrospect, he could of just been growing too. People have pointed out the subtle changes of growths since debut. And I can account to that! My nose used to have a fair dip to it, now it’s smoothed out quite well. Changes happen. And either all what happened, if he did or not, it’s not personally affecting YOU, let him continue to be the smiley cute maknae without the hate kk. <3

  • shinee24

Its a small issue, it’s like not making sense it netizens of Korea making it as if its a big deal! He didn’t do it all over his face, just a small one on nose. That’s all. We can comment on making plactic surgery and ruining your natural beauty but now Taemin, he remains natural after the surgery . Getting his nose done doesn’t affect his face much.

why do mosf kpop stars resort to plastic surgery? To me, its not making them any better..or maybe even worse. No offense! Natural look is undoubtedly better. Still love taemin n shinee though. Hope they wont stress over the image they project. They r already great as they are….
