SNSD’s Japanese “Gee” Has Landed!

90

IMO:The dancing in this version is not as crisp as it was in January of 09′. And I must say that after viewing the re-vamp, I kind of prefer the Korean “Gee.” Sure it was a bit annoying at first, but after you got used to it, and before it became annoying again, it was actually kinda cute. This newer version just leaves me with a “meh” feeling. Although their fans may wish them to stay forever blushing and bouncy, the members of SNSD are still growing into young women. They are by no means “old,” but it is very obvious that they are maturing beyond the title of “girls.”

aw i think its cute, minho is adorable and the girls are very pretty

  • nickdobi

it’s not the same without the Babo part….

    • Awilo

I thought I was the only one who missed it…, the emphasis on the word in Japanese is really lacking.

  • http://www.callmepatricia.com Patricia

it sounds as if each word was recorded in a separate take and they just spliced everything together. it also sounds as if they recorded everything five steps lower than the original key, and then bumped the pitch back up during production. hence, annoying chipmunkedness. also, they’re getting way too old for this nonsense; the MV looks even more frivolous than the original korean version, if that’s even possible.

also, it should be known that i actually laughed out loud when minho made his cameo. although it was a cute touch, he is also getting way too old for this nonsense.

    • mischa

Notice how they never really focused on any girl singing, except some Seohyun, Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Jessica?

They looked like they were lip-synching, and I’m still not sure what language they’re singing in. :/

The video/screen/space is too…small? Like the girls had to compress to fit in the screen, the MV itself looks like a half-assed project, splicing at the wrong moments (when it was Yuri’s part, with the girls in skinny jeans, you can see her move to the middle, but they never showed her, instead showing the nine girls in the white background). The dancing looked lazy, and they kept on switching scenes instead of focusing on the girls’ singing. Tiffany didn’t even look like she was properly singing her lines…Sooyoung look so weird, her cheeks have gotten rounder and plumper and I don’t think it’s the weight since she’s looking skinnier.

      • jyyjc

well..of course they were lipsyncing, they were filming a music video -_-
but yeah i did notice that the camera didn’t focus long enough when someone was singing.

        • foreveryouandme

am i the only one that thinks sooyoung looks different -________- she doesn’t sing a lot && she doesn’t get lots of screentime but i think she did get plastic surgery :( it’s so obvious~

          • Ouch

She just have a couple of botox shots on her cheeks, chin and upper lip.kinda miss her cuty bubbly round face.

  • fiona

they danced more in sync in the old mv. slacking off here. And quality of this one ain’t as good. The only thing positive about this mv is more Minho time.

  • kekekekeke

i like the video better than korean one but just visually, the sound is soo annoying, its like a chipmunk version or smth,i prefer the korean sound better.
and i agree that the girls are getting old for this lovely dovey cutesy style,i mean how many years will they be pretending to be little girls and cheerleaders,sm should stop this nonsence.
    p.s. minho looks lo-ve-ly :)

    • mischa

If you look closely into it and want to be anal about it, at the end of the MV, Minho was taking “home” the girls since they were in the design of the bag.

So basically just the same as their Korean concepts…aside from the cutesy images, it’s still “Oppa, take me home/do whatever you want to me”?

      • leila

where did you get the oppa take me home do whatever you want from me, thing from? I think you read too much into it and trying to find a negative flaw at a lighter note did anyone notice yuri fixing her shirt during the dance lol

      • LeLe

IMHO,Its like watching women trying to be little girls, like failed role play. Its quite sad of the image their portraying since they’re idols (basically any1 can be an idol so Some1 explain whats so special about Idol in kpop? is it like a clique kinda thing?).
I know when your a woman, you want to feel like a woman and sadly I still don’t see that from these “women” acting like girls. I wish these “women” to stand up and have the strength to show their opinions with these songs and having what they would like in improvement/growth for newer songs instead of “women” being lil girls playing dress up and submissive. Shouldn’t they have what they think is best for them as well?
On another note, I’m aware its a cute song but all/most songs still have messages. And it kinda sickens me that some fans can’t or refuse to admit that their lyrics are giving the message of “Do what you want with me for your own pleasure Oppa” Maybe its subliminal? Maybe it’s hidden under a clear rubber rug?
I know it may seem like I’m negative and going extreme but it’s my opinion from a K-pop fan for over 3 years with an open-mind to world music so I know they are not the only one with this image.
Also I know Soshi’s ?!? have said that snsd have each individual talents and charms but I didn’t see it shown until I saw it on variety shows and solo clips from their concert and pre-debut. So it’s obvious to see how newcomers see these “women” as only girls through their music. And isn’t music and their songs their main focus?!? Even if you’re the top group or popular? Ah I open so many doors about the shift of the current Kpop we have now. Wow 3 years in kpop can change so much…..(Sorry if I may have offended, but hopefully you get my message)

        • RoxyIsFerox

I know right? Most of them are now of legal age but their image and musicality never grew up. They have been into this industry for 3 years now but the image is still the same old cute-but-provocative one. Their black soshi image never worked. They just granted the wishes of fanboys/ahjussis to almost go all the way and tease those ‘pinkies’. They never showed women empowerment in any means possible. They are either just telling the girls to grant the wishes of their boys or just leave the girls envy with their skinny bods.

Up to now, it’s their legs and bare midriffs they are selling. Not talent. Not music, even though their music is catchy. Do not forget that most of ‘em got plastic surgery.

Even if Genie or Gee would be on oricon chart, their Japanese attempt is nothing but failure. They turn lame when they do Japanese. While I hate bringing up the pinoy pride here, but pinoy japayukis could do japanese better than these girls. Because of this, their popularity in Japan is not understandable since their Japanese is weak.

          • leila

lol I think everyone even snsd themselves admitted they dont like the gee concept, but inevitably its not their choice but the companies and what would profit them the most. As a female I liked genie I dont need idols to make me feel “empowerement” or whatever you said but kpop is just fun, there isnt any substance to begin with, idol guy groups such as dbsk big bang and 2pm tend to the fangirls while snsd, 2ne1 and kara tend to fanboys but im pretty sure these girl groups have female fans as well. But its not fair to say they dont have talent, I only became a fan of snsd after I heard some of their ballads im not a fan whatsoever of their cheesy pop title tracks, and fyi snds has the most proportional fanbases between genders like 45% girls and 55% guys, but I also wish for them to have a concept of their own, Im not that much of a fan of gee.

        • Xenia

“when your a woman, you want to feel like a woman” – true. But when exactly does a girl change into a woman if we talk about age? When she’s legal? Nonsense. These girls are 20-21 now, as far as I remember. They have all rights in the world to be seen as girls, not “young women”. That’s from the point of view of 28-old woman =)
Though I’m sure that some of 9 girls are mentally more mature that other, and they, probably, want to try new image.

          • RoxyIsFerox

also, when they turn 25, are they still ‘SONYEO SHIDAE’ OR ‘GIRLS’ GENERATION’? Even if they are tied to a 12-year contract, they are still likely to disband and form another group with that span of years. 25 is no longer a ‘sonyeo’

  • kliks

    Soooo Annoy-gee-gee-gee-ing!!!!

    • Jazie

      Totally ;)

  • angelmort

Mmm… They look like little girls in this… O_o
But they kept Minho in the MV xD

  • Ouch

Lol.its normal for girls to find it really annoying..no matter how ‘meh’ n mmm snsd to them,no one can stop snsd’s gee virus outbreak.

Antis can just watch, butthurt for no reason and moan to death.no offense.:p

  • yipee

Japanese gee syndrome for sure! Haters can just go cry in a corner….again! lol

    • Britney IsFierce

      nope

      • jessi

        yep

        • ehhh

          haha. nope

          • Ouch

            Hell yes

  • Kyana

I so over estimated this! The video was cool, the dancing looked like they just kinda went through the motions and didn’t really put any soul into though. And Japanese just doesn’t fit with the flow of the song the way Korean does but it was cute that they replaced “Babo” with “uso”.

  • kliks

To me, the problem with the hardcore fans is that by praising everything their idols do, the idols keep doing the same thing over and over again, they stop trying and do not evolve, so, instead of helping them improve they harm them… The best example: snsd and super junior … Sorry to say it, but even though I like some of their songs, is getting tiring to see them stuck…

    • J

      +1
This can also explain why no one in K-Pop has tried to move away from the auto-tune trend yet. It’s still selling like hotcakes so companies don’t feel the need to come up with something new (though any critic would agree that 99% of all these so called ‘hits’ are often beyond mediocre in terms of composition).

  • Awilo

    How old are they anyway….

    • Evels

20-21. I dress more maturely then they do and I’m like 13.

      • manoman

        LOL!!! now thats funny.

  • oh why

so before i watched to the video, i read all the comments, and i was like “damnit, i was looking forward to the second coming of gee…why they gotta mess it up?”

but then i watched the video, and i didn’t think it was that bad!
the girls look pretty! and i thought they did the dance okay! minho is FINE AS HELL! its the usual SNSD…

my only problem is that Gee isn’t really suited to be sung in Japanese if you ask me. it did make the song annoying, and the splicing of video was very hectic and fragmented. but i didn’t think it was that bad, no need to bash it.
and i’m not a SNSD fan, i just really liked gee, lol!!

and of course its the same old story/video/look, because hey this is SM ENT we’re talking about!!!! why would they go out of their way to change when they know old Gee will bring in HELLUVA A LOT OF $$$ in Japan as it did in Korea…lol…SM ENT does not give a shit, folks, hahaha! realize that and stress yourself out less!!!

  • Kpopboi

hahaha I never thought 9 girls could still look so hot with such sloppy dancing.

but seriously though. After this, there better be a new song. A no more of this cutesy love-struck shit (coming from a dude kthnxby).

  • manoman

well, now that thats over how about some original japanese tracks from these girls?

    • valvic

remakes are kind of getting tiring. 4minute i think is already on their 2nd album maybe and they are definitly not repeating, neither is kara. its sort of like they are playing it safe but hey i mostly support them because hyo’s in there. after that i wouldnt care. i wonder if 2ne1 will ever take their crown.

  • Daydream

is it me or are their voices a tad bit higher and squeakier in the jap version…? yeh and the dancing was kinda sloppy.

  • Unnursvana

Gee gee gee gee gee ♥

I have never found Gee annoying! I love it, the girls look great!

  • Amanda

The song was squeakier and more annoying (didn’t know that was possible), the video is better I just wish they toned down the colours since it hurt my eyes, and FFS can Hyo get anytime on the screen? She FINALLY has good hair but gets maybe three 2 second close-ups.

  • lindsey

I like snsd but their Japanese debut hasn’t impressed me…maybe they need to make an original Japanese song.

  • quizle

The song is definitely kinda off in japanese. It just sounds so squeaky and a bit annoying in japanese

  • akpop fan enjoying MUSIC

tbh….since their remaking this song into Japanese….they should have pick another guy to be da lead…like they should have gotten a japanese guy instead of Korean! just saying….

    • manoman

      i agree.

      • manoman

but then again, all the shinee fans would probably throw a tantrum and call for heads to roll if their precious minho wasnt in the video.

  • Jenny

I’m having the same problem with Gee as I had with Genie. They sound like they would be singing in korean but making it sound japanese. A lot of it has to do with their pronouciation which is not very good (some members have better pronouciation then others)
They have been planning this Japan debut for months, you would expect better results. What is positive is they at least have one member who can speak japanese compared to the toher groups.
But I liked the clothes and the colorful pv.

  • Britney IsFierce

    more annoying than ever

  • ehhh

ehh. ANNOYING! but they looked much prettier now.. hmm

  • =p

Pathetic that they’re still acting like 6 year old girls (after 16, it’s not cute). None of their voices even sound like that and that’s the worst dancing that I’ve seen. People need to get over this crappy so-called group.

    • jessi

wow hater much, they are better than most groups out there they aren’t the best girl group in Korea for no reason, don’t like a group don’t read their articles, that simple.

      • Cat

um, no, they’re not the best, they’re just the most popular (for now). their vocals and dancing are average at best and are actually getting sloppier compared to when they first debuted. they don’t really live up to all the hype surrounding them. and no, i’m not a hater, just someone who’s unimpressed by Korea’s so-called “No. 1 girl group”.

        • Xenia

Sorry, but at the moment they ARE the best girl group in Korea. Just like Spice Girls were the best girl group in the world. No.1, most popular, model even. It doesn’t matter if anyone was unimpressed by SG or is unimpressed by SNSD, it can’t change the fact. Most popular = best. Most vocally gifted = most vocally gifted, and nothing more, “unfair” like this =)

          • Cat

sorry, but i prefer to think of the word “best” in the context of quality, as in their vocals, dancing, composing skills, etc. so no, they’re not the best. most popular=/=best. let’s say, among miley cyrus, mandy moore and katharine mcphee. of course, miley cyrus is the most popular but is she the best? HELL NO. same goes to snsd. i’m not saying they sound as bad as miley, they sound much better actually, but like i previously stated, they’re not really worth all the hypee. and i don’t get your “Most vocally gifted = most vocally gifted” point. are you saying snsd is the most vocally gifted group? cause that’s just way too far from the truth.

          • Xenia

@ Cat – I see what you mean. I somewhat agree, too. And OF COURSE SNSD is NOT the most vocally gifted group, God forbid. Thankfully, not the worst, but it’s not the point. Now I’ll try to explain what I meant, if you don’t mind.
In my opinion, different genres require for different standards of quality. Like, even the very best of k-pop singers can’t perform in classic opera, but it doesn’t matter because the genre is different. VOS can’t sing like the three tenors, but in their field VOS are the leaders.
And for girl groups the ability to sing or dance was never really important. Most successful girl groups were more often than not mediocre as artists. But the fact that they were the most successful proves that they were the best – in their field, their segment of musical market. And those girl groups who sing or dance better are left with titles like “best singing girl group”, or “best dancing girl group” or, why not, “best unique and creative girl group” while Grand Prix goes to, in this case and in current time, SNSD.
Again, not that I strongly disagree with your position or something. it’s more a matter of terminology =)

          • RoxyIsFerox

SNSD as most vocally gifted group? You’ve gotta be kidding me, which Jessica’s 7 years of training and all she has are average dancing skills and annoyingly nasal vocals. Man, her so-called ‘sica effect’ will be laughed by vocal schools more profound by SM Entertainment, man! Taeyeon sometimes swerves when hitting high notes. Sunny’s voice did not mature. Yoona, Yuri, Sooyoung, Hyeoyeon’s voice were just.plain.blah!

CSJH, Brown Eyed Girls, Big Mama, FinKL, SES were waaaaaay vocally-gifted than those 9 floozies.

They are not that gifted like you are trying to claim. Their talent appears to be too manufactured just like their male counterpart 2PM. Taught to dance and sing for entertainment companies’ money-making purposes only.

Also, it’s pretty ridiculous to compare them to Spice Girls. They are no way as better as SG. SG is vocally-perfect, voices do not swerve or crack, and they really HAVE A GIFT FOR SINGING AND DANCING, NOT MANUFACTURED FOR MONEY-MAKING PURPOSE LIKE A FUCKING ROBOT

          • Cat

            @Xenia
I think i get what you’re trying to say. thanks for being civil and polite. are you an snsd fan? it’s good to meet fans of snsd who are nice, cause i usually encounter those who label me as a “jealous hater” just cause i don’t worship them to high heavens. so if you’re a fan, then that’s really refreshing.=)
and as for this part “And for girl groups the ability to sing or dance was never really important. Most successful girl groups were more often than not mediocre as artists”. i guess this is what pisses me off the most, cause with this sort of scenario happening in the music industry over and over again, no wonder the quality of music is going downhill. the truly talented ones are pushed aside by entertainment companies to make way for “manufactured puppets”. and what’s worse, the public just eats it all up.
            @RoxyIsFerox
i agree with you wholeheartedly (heck, i find myself agreeing to almost all of your posts) but maybe it would be better to tone down the harshness a bit. i mean, there are snsd fans reading this, i think we should be a little more sensitive to their feelings. but hey, to each his/her own. peace! =)

          • Rhea

So are you saying… just because something is popular, it must be good?

What kind of a mindset is that?

Twilight is popular… but that book is so flawed I don’t consider it as literature. But it’s popular, so it must be good! *sarcasm*

        • Xenia

@RoxyIsFerox – did you miss “NOT” in caps lock? Also, dont’t tell me about Spice Girls – I was at their concert, they were mediocre singers – though their songs never required any vocal talent. And yet I WENT to Germany especially to visit their concert about 10 years ago.

@Cat – yes, I like SNSD very much, especially Sunny (glares at RoxyIsFerox’s comment – Sunny has adorable bell-like voice, thank you very much XP). Oh, and to be honest, I also have my moments. I have quite a few rude comments on the SNSD topics – not that I’m proud of it.
15 years ago there were Spice Girls, BSB and other artists of their type who were on the top of charts with often shitty songs and strong promotions. And still it didn’t prevent really talented groups to be born, to perform, and to be here now as respected artists. “And public just eats it all up” – yes, like snacks. But it doesn’t mean that all people in “public” eat ONLY “snacks”. Most of them eat normal “food”, too. Healthy even, if I can use such a comparison =)
*Also sorry for possible mistakes, can’t check spelling at the moment.

          • RoxyIsFerox

@ Xenia, I am not a total fan of Spice Girls, but I’ve bought their albums and I know that the concept of their songs are waaay better than SNSD NOT BECAUSE SNSD’S IS NOT ENGLISH. While you may claim that Spice Girls are mediocre singers, their songs are not as childish as SNSD’s. 2 BECOME 1 is way good enough to listen than OH! or GENIE. Man! The latter two is objectifying, doing nothing but to grant the wishes of ahjussis or getting the attention of oppas in sacrifice of their ‘dignity’. There is nothing wrong with sexiness and sexuality but if your image or songs ending up being a slave of sex… that’s a different story.

And I’ve never been impressed with SNSD vocals at all… hitting high notes is nothing if your voice is like shrieking imps. Sorry sweetie, but not in my taste. Even if I enjoy their songs, I won’t make them MY STANDARD in vocals. I would rather look for someone like CSJH, Bada, Ivy, BEG or Big Mama.

  • callie

Hold your breath haters cause SNSD ain’t slowing down! I predict another gee syndrome and I’m lovin’ their japanese MVs! They’re already getting so much love in Japan and I can’t wait to see these girls perform this song!

    • Lalaland

True that2. Haters just moaning at the very beginning of every comeback. When the girs snatch a gallery of awards and recognitions, most of the haters just shut their holes up and butthurt to death..what a life.

      • manoman

no offense but considering how korea has award shows like every other weekend its hard to take some of them seriously.

      • Penny

Are you talking about shows like Music Core? You can’t be serious. When the top 3 companies release the title track from their album, they sweep prizes. The songs can be shitty, autotuned messes and they’ll still win. It means nothing.

  • Sup

Apparently there are 150 000 pre orders the the Gee single in Japan…

    O______O

Even though I don’t like Gee and I’d prefer it if they did ITNW the japanese sones liked Gee the most…..I’m not surprised though considering japan likes all things cute-ish.

I also hate how SM wants to promote SNSD across Asia instead of just sticking to Japan. Stupid idea, it’s as if SM’s trying to see how far they can push them before they drop. Traveling ot a different country everyday will have it’s toll on people. Just focus on Japan for now and get them more comfortable with the language. Idiots I say.

    • manoman

150,000 pre orders doesnt mean anything. its the actual sales that count.

i agree though, if they want to make it in japan then they need to stay there but they arent trying to make it there. they are just there for the quick buck.

    • charms

are they going to translate their songs again in those countries? ’cause if if they did and one of those countries is our country, people might not take them seriously except if its in english

  • Ouch

Just watch a japanese show..they said the preorders are nearly 150 K!!!..way to go girls!..suck that haters..no one listen to your stereotype analysis..its amazing that haters analyze and scrutinize the song goddamn early than the fans themselves…..

Btw their so called annoying chipmunk voices are intentional for japanese market.( i bet all the haters acknowledge this things but still bitching and moaning for no reason.)

    • manoman

youre excited about pre orders? LOL

its amazing how nut hugging fans like yourself will celebrate anything.

how about actually waiting for the final sales to come in before gloating? pre orders dont mean anything.

      • leila

wow so if someone said something positive about snsd they become nut hugging fans? I lol at the people who hate, you can hate all you want and that aint stoppin snsd from ruling asia they sold 100,000 with genie im pretty sure they will sell more with gee in japan.=,

      • Ouch

        Ouhh.severe butthurt alert.
Its your fingers n you can type everything here. But gee syndrome is just initiated and u can do nothing about it.just bite your own nastyass nails watch the sunset.wakaka.

        • Rhea

Learn how to type in proper English before I can take you seriously.

  • RoxyIsFerox

[from leila: lol I think everyone even snsd themselves admitted they dont like the gee concept, but inevitably its not their choice but the companies and what would profit them the most. SNSD fanbase? well, still not proportional, with guys and DOMs making the large percentage of fanbase. It’s still a great feeling when you are a woman artist and having women and girls making large large number of your fanbase. It’s honorable for a woman to have MORE women fans coz you make them relate with you. Having male fans are different. They are more likely to objectify you.

    • leila

Um no 45 to 55 is pretty proportional, snsd are one of the few who have alot of girl fans, soshified which is snsd’s intl fanbase is the biggest for any kpop girl and boy group, and is mostly girls and the founder is a girl.

      • RoxyIsFerox

ummmm… just because the founder of SNSD’s international forum is a girl DOES NOT MEAN GIRL POWER.

Yeah, SNSD is just fun,,, I mean JUST FUN, no substance.

        • leila

as is all kpop (boy and girl groups)which equals= NO substance where did I say girl power? i was talking about the number of fangirls, girl you need to chill abit its a kpop blog site not politics

          • RoxyIsFerox

@leila, I think you are still in your teens that is why we could not relate with each other. I am 28, and don’t get me wrong, I love Kpop just the same as you do; however, it’s so annoying that only boy/girlgroups are emerging in kpop scene that keeps on feeding people the same old stuff over and over again. I pity those with true talent and true substance–not manufactured—who really deserve a spotlight and not just merely selling out. I need singers who are really singers and not turning out hoez

          • leila

I am 20 and I do agree that people with talent are not given enough love but excuse me for a 28 yr old do you think its right to call girls who you dont know hoes, and talentless? Im sorry as a 20 yr old I feel more mature than you because I would not call people I dont know hoes or even a group I dislike talentless because I personally dont know them, and diff people percieve the meaning of talent to their own, its not snsds fault they get all the attention i wish groups like the indi kband guyz, or rasbperry field get more spotlight but you dont see me calling kara snsd hoes and talentless with only ahjusssi fans, I respect all groups especially girl groups because how would you feel if people you dont know called you a hoe? I didnt mean to offend you but im trying to get my point across

I’m glad I”m not the only one annoyed by their voices. I was beginning to wonder if this was their voice for real.. I don’t know why they did this. If you like something, you like it as it is. No need for remake. I wonder if the Japanese like it…

This whole video feels kind of half-assed. We’ve seen these dance moves, we’ve done the store front, we’ve seen the random scene change where they’re wearing oversized T-shirts with no pants, blah blah blah. They don’t even sound as peppy singing in this one as they did in the original. “Gee” is the only SNSD song I can stand and I was bored halfway through this.

I wish I could get some kind of idea on how good their pronunciation was though. Maybe that’s why their singing felt so unnatural.

[I am 20 and I do agree that people with talent are not given enough love but excuse me for a 28 yr old do you think its right to call girls who you dont know hoes, and talentless? Im sorry as a 20 yr old I feel more mature than you because I would not call people I dont know hoes or even a group I dislike talentless because I personally dont know them, and diff people percieve the meaning of talent to their own, its not snsds fault they get all the attention i wish groups like the indi kband guyz, or rasbperry field get more spotlight but you dont see me calling kara snsd hoes and talentless with only ahjusssi fans, I respect all groups especially girl groups because how would you feel if people you dont know called you a hoe? Well, you may not know them but just because you are being trained to sing and dance DOES NOT MEAN its talent. Who knows, you are just being trained like that for money-making purposes only. The people with inborn gift in singing, dancing (not necessarily), playing instruments, articulacy, and composing songs are THE ONES I CONSIDER TALENTED. The singers WHO SELL MUSIC, IDEAS, CONCEPT, CREATIVITY and NOT BODIES and HOW THEY CAN GRANT THE WISHES OF AHJUSSIS/AHJUMMAS/NOONAS/OPPAS are the ones WHOM I WON’T CONSIDER AS HOES. In the case of SNSD—alongside 2PM—-are JUST MERE TOOLS by the companies to sell things other than music. While I understand it is not their fault, but have they heard about self-respect? Sexiness and sex is not bad, but it’s turning out to be objectifying and appears in a double-standarding, would that be abhorrent? Madonna used to ‘sell sex’ you know what I mean; however, she owned her sexiness…her ‘sex’ is not too objectifying for guy fans sakes. Also, she may not be vocally powerful, but such a true gifted person. Her sexiness is equated with genuine talent (not manufactured). I will not also forget SPICE GIRLS. Damn! While they are not as sexual as Madonna, their songs are with full meaning and not just serenading boys.

In the case of SNSD, while they are trying to act cute, pure, and innocent, to paraphrase Lee Byung Hoon (the infamous music journalist who wrote ‘Is it a sin to like SNSD), SNSD shows their provocativeness to guys, and not in empowering way. Demeaning. Like, they are bent in gratifying man’s wishes over their own instincts. Same thing with 2PM, but appearing to be chauvinist way like “we guys are not losing end, but you bitches” and yet, thru their songs, they are trying to make girls as pure evil. Run Devil Run of SNSD did not help growing themselves up.

There are rock stars I’ve known—Pinoy, American, Korean or Japanese—who are, some of them, are untidy, decadent, wild… but what they sell are SONGS, CREATIVITY, WIT, CONCEPT, POWER, EMOTIONS. They equate their image with their true talent.

I have lived my teens exposed to different genres and different fields, but as much as I find SNSD and their songs very entertaining, I could not just offer any respect for these girls.

Yeah, I would feel bad if someone calls me a ‘hoe’; however, you would not be called like that if you are being discreet with your behavior and just don’t end up selling your body. I am a sex-positive person unlike these so-called virginal girls, but I would feel cheap on myself if my purpose in life is just getting the attention of boys in very shallow manner

before I forget, it REALLY FEELS CREEPY to have ahjussi fans, I mean many ahjussi fans. A man is different from a woman. Men are more visual, and they are more likely to objectify a woman—viewing women as nothing but a piece of meat instead of recognizing intellectual capacity. While some women has the same tendency as man does, women are more onto emotions and internal issues. If you happened to be a woman artist and MAJORITY OF YOUR FAN PERCENTAGE ARE WOMEN, that’s EVEN MORE HONORABLE.

If I happened to be a singer, I would rather sell my concept, singing or dancing skills but influencing people at the same time. I won’t let myself ended up being a mere ‘tool’ for satisfaction.
