Wonder Girls push phones in the Pacific
On the 9th in Singapore at the Sony Ericsson Media Conference it was announced that the Wonder Girls will be the models for their global brand of mobile phones for the Asia/Pacific region. This region includes South Korea, China, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Australia, and New Zealand. The Wonder Girls were picked as models due to their international success including the United States and their successful use of digital media marketing with the likes of YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.
About their new role as models for Sony Ericsson, the Wonder Girls have said that they have “always liked the outstanding design and ease of use of Sony Ericsson mobile phones” and that they are “so happy to be Asia’s representative and we will work hard in our activities.”
The Wonder Girls are expected to remain in Singapore until the 11th to finish promotions there, then they are expected to return to Korea. After experiencing much success and breaking into the US market, we’ll have to see if the Wonder Girls can rebound from the loss of Sunmi and addition of Lim, and continue in their quest to achieve greater international fame.

i feel so bad about feeling this way but i just can’t get used to hyerim. it’s not that i think she’s untalented or that i have ill feelings towards her; it’s just that wg doesn’t feel like wg without sunmi. im going to keep supporting wg but it just won’t be the same without sunmi :[[

Hmm… I can see their fashion is Americanised now. WG used have a fit to appear in non-sync clothes. Now each has their own character. Nice…
except for Nobody all their styles were always different. Each gir has always had a different concept and when they went to events their styles were always different

How is having an individual outfit classified as ‘Americanised’? As far as I know, there are also people in other countries don’t wear matching outfits.
Yeah but Hyuna hadn’t even been with WG for a year. Hyuna was with them for Irony, when they weren’t famous at all whereas Sunmi was with WG from the beginning for 3 years. Not only that, but she was a part of WG when they started becoming really famous in korea and when WG debuted in America as well. There’s a big difference between Hyerim and Yubin. just saying :))

and worst of all, they haven’t got a new song since Nobody, and i know that song is crazily catchy but come on, its been played way too many times
JYPE is putting the wondergirls out in other countries to do all these insignificant events while the wondergirl’s popularity in korea is deteriorating
i know overseas popularity is good, but enough is enough

The Wonder Girls themselves wanted more exposure and to ‘conquer the world’…SunMi herself said that. She said in one of the videos about her that she wants to be the world’s best singer, and for the whole world to recognize the Wonder Girls. She worked hard because of that dream.
But obviously, dreams are different from reality. The US proved to be too difficult for SunMi.
Besides, had they stayed in Korea, what would be there for them? They already achieved so much popularity and recognition for a girl group that was new to KPop. I’m more certain that had they stayed in Korea, they would be doing solo activities more and more often, with Sohee venturing to movies. So basically, you get the WG in Korea…but they won’t be functioning as a group anymore, since they’d be pursuing other activities.
They were at the peak of their careers when “Nobody” came out. It’s been almost 2 1/2 years and the song is still going strong in many countries. They’d been the top girl group in Korea since “Tell Me”. Other girl groups are lucky the WG aren’t in Korea right now.
They have a new song coming out in April in Korea. The people still love them. They’re Korea’s Little Sisters.
although i agree with most of your points, I have to disagree with the other girl groups are lucky the WG arent here. All the current girl groups such as snsd and kara and 2ne1 have amazing talents, and I really think snsd deserves the top girl group name right now, and its not because the WG arent there, but because of their talents but i really do love WG especially sunmi she was my favorite:( im excited or april too see what they have to offer.

true i think the wg rely a lot on their charisma/stage presence and jyp’s marketing.. talent-wise they are not any different or better than other girl groups.. snsd imo is very talented but their marketing strategy is such a turnoff -_-
i know korean haven’t forgotten about the wondergrils because they were so popular back then, but that was back then
of course people still love them, but as of this moment, their popularity isn’t number one
its just sad for me to see them performing at events in these small stages singing songs that came out 2 years ago
i’d much rather see them stay in korea, come out with good/new music, and perform on big stages
